I know they make the core EXP at around 900.00 but whats up with not making the less expensive one. I called them and they said they dont make an EXP and they dont plan too. Is GG such a small market they dont see any $$$$.
I asked them the same question & the answer I was given was that they couldn't get the Core to perform properly on it's own in the GG- ie. it couldn't meet their engineering standards/objectives. What that means, I'm not sure......& the guy couldn't clarify.
The EXP @ $399 is a lower money setup that sacrifices some of the stock clutch plates to allow for the plate to fit in the basket and in their testing they were not comfortable with the durability of the GG clutch setup when plates were subtracted, thus the 'no EXP available' problem we have with the Gas Gas line.
I call bullshit, if it's not reliable in a gasgas what makes it reliable in a honda or any other bike that shares the clutch components with honda
Some dealers are selling the core exp at a discount. I picked mine up for $700 total shipped to my door.
Are they a top secret?
The problem is with the inconsistencies of the stock components. GASGAS clutch baskets are really Husqvarna parts. You can see where the Husky name is removed from the basket. The clutch plates are the same as a KTM. So, you could use an EXP from a KTM 200 or whatever. You'll just find that the gap will be hard to get right, which is likely why Rekluse wants you to buy their whole set up. You might have to make a spacer for the lifter, or some other goofy thing...
It's not impossible, just more than most people want to do.
Good luck!
isn't that exactly how it works with all bikes?
I don't think so. I had the same problem with a Dyna ring auto clutch. We tried for over a month of back and forth shipping of parts and we could just not get it to work to my liking on my 11' 250xc. He used an 11' 250xc as a test unit that worked perfect. The same parts in my bike wouldn't work. He said the tolerances on the jap and KTM bikes are much much more consistent and he rarely ever had a problem with them.
