So , I have a great bike for sale.... Problem is i have had it for sale for over 6 months now... I have NEVER had a problem moving a machine. I dont get it .. I have it advertised for $900 , and nothing... other than a few "locals " calling and low balling me. So here it is 99 ec 250 complete bike runs super strong needs nothing, looks great. if i dont sell it by the end of the year i will be parting it out(i hate to see a great bike destroyed like that but...., I will take $900 for it .. has all of the usual goodies, ohlins R, marzocchi mag (50mm) conv forks. all good plastics, FMF burly pipe, silencer, magura fat bars, etc...i will email pics ( or post here if i can figure out how) if you are interested. Thanks , Chad

How much trouble to crate it up? I am in Washington and looking for a buddy/nephew bike. If the crating and shipping fees are reasonable we can chat.

Phil

i will crate and deliver to a local shipper of your choice, for 100, you pay shipping...

Just sent an email for a shipping quote. I'll get back to you, but if someone steps up and buys it do not hesitate to forget I existed :D

Good luck, and I hope to be chatting with you soon.

As an aside, what is the condition/status of the engine? Top end, crank, etc. Any gremlins or other concerns?

I have had the bike for about a yr, the guy i bought from said top end had been done about six month prior to my purchase. I have put a total of 2 hrs on it(not an exaggeration) since i have had it. It could use fork seals, and has a small leak from the petcock on fuel tank.. other than that its sound.. runs strong, pulls through gears ( oh not sure if i mentioned it , but it is a factory 4spd)I did not even know that existed , but was assured by the guys at gofasters that in 98/99/00 a 4spd trans was in production, but few of them made it stateside... let me know.. im ready to free up some space in the garage..

Do you still have the bike? The engine with the 4 speed transmission is great for fast hare scrambles. The top speed isn't hurt much, as the wide ratio transmission is like starting in second on the 6 speed and just a mph or so slower than the 6 speed on top. At the Red River Enduro about 11 years ago, Josh was on a 6 speed and Gabe was on a 4 speed (both early '99 MC250 with the '98 counterbalanced engines). Running across the mile long hay field, they got in a drag race. At the end of a mle, Josh was a half bike length ahead, and his Moose Pacemaker showed 93 mph. Both bikes had the Messico pipe and 13/50 final gearing, which was conducive to high rpm running.
From the photos, it looks as if this bike has the Messico pipe. Is that correct?

Can you tell me if this engine has the gear driven counterbalancer?
It's easy to see if you take the ignition cover off. The "half moon" weight on the end of the counterbalancer will be in the "hump" area above and behind of the flywheel.
