2011 ec 300e kick start trouble.

I've been riding this bike for the last two weekends and totally love it, but i'm still getting used to the 2t life. Every time I cold start it I use the kick and it works in 1-2 stabs. While i'm riding and make planned stops I usually try to kick it back to life with the rationale that i'm saving the ES for more dire circumstances.

The trouble is that once warmed up, the bike becomes difficult to to kick start, while it easily goes with the button.
Could this be a jetting issue? I was told that it was jetted for 5k and I have been riding it from 5k-8k so far and it seems to run fine.

Also on a related note, the button does not seem to work if the bike is rolling downhill. When i've failed at bump starting it and then tried e-start it just clicks and won't catch.

A little background on the bike as I received it: The left handlebar control cluster and some sort of mini-lever assembly(similar looking to a 4t de-comp lever) were passed on to me in a spare parts box. Is that lever assembly a handlebar mounted choke?

Yep handle bar mounted choke.

It could be a jetting issue, but I've also found that when warm the bike fires to life easier if you open the throttle a touch.

+1....when cold, choke, no throttle, when warm, just a bit of throttle.

This did the trick, thanks

Damn.

You guys are good.

From thousands of miles away Jake reaches in and solves it first time - dang that's good. More than that, it stuff like that that makes owning a GasGas a reasonable proposition.
