2011 Model Gassers

The whole e-start thing and the way it was hinted at by the GasGas factory two years ago and even announced by the factory as an option last year was kind of a sales killer, at least here in the US.

My point is that everybody in the US seemed to want it, or at least talked about wanting it, and that delayed importing decisions because GasGas delayed the production of the e-start over and over and over...... So in turn GasGas USA ended up delaying its decision on which bikes to bring in early on because they were told that e-start was coming anytime and once again it was way too late before the first 2010 bikes even got here.

Its kind of like the Rekluse EXP clutch deal, everybody talked about it yet few have been sold (that is a large part of my trip to the factory where when we begged Rekluse to make a GasGas EXP clutch we'd in turn try and open some doors for them in Europe if they did.)

As far as the “add on” e-start option goes I doubt that it would be an easy / cheap upgrade for older bikes. My understanding is it involves at least a newly designed left side engine case that would most likely allow for a "bolt on" upgrade but only on the new models with the new engine cases. Don't worry I'll try my best to get to the bottom of it.

The Sachs suspension valving thing is just an ongoing evolution. It seems to be getting better each year, or at least getting closer, but it’s not perfect for everybody.

Very few OEM suspension set ups by any factory are spot on for all but a few middle of the road riders anyway. For play riding I’ve been happy with the stock suspension but I’ve also had a chance to ride the new Ohlins TTX suspension and can appreciate that set up as well.

Not overly impressed with the new colour scheme,I think it will date quickly.Glad I got the 2010 model!
Is anyone ever happy with stock forks on any bike?

Not mentioned but evident in the photos is a new Keihin carb. Gone is the screw top, replaced with the Yamaha/Kawasaki-type mixer.

The 2010 does not have a screw-top carb.

Am glad i did not wait for the 2011 bike! but feel that the red hubs is the wrong colour red IMO

GF while you are at the factory try to find out which serial numbers refer to the bikes manufactured last week and this week ... have a feeling that they will be hangover bikes :)

With the current economic crisis in Spain, and seeing that the 4-stroke trials bike has been delayed, I suspect that any new R&D investment is way back on the shelf. This being said, try and get an update on the status of the new GG 250F motor, even if its bad news.

swazi_matt -- With Spain winning the World Cup I wouldn't expect anything other than a week long holdiay, I'm serious. :D

Keg -- As far as GasGas' e-start development goes I've also been told that last year's e-start patent was turned down as it was to close to what KTM had and that a new design now has the green light to go ahead.

GMP -- I've also got pretty good information that they've more than turned the corner finacially as a company and are making money again. Of course that has come at a cost of downsizing and that is slowing down research and development a little.

I am absolutely happy with the stock forks on my Nambotin!

I think the 2011 looks great with the red frame and white plastics.

Now if I can just resist the urge! My 2007 hasn't done anything to deserve being replaced by the hot new model..

the color looks good to mea and the red frame is great, but I don't like the plastics.
The older Headlight was much better and the 07' to 09' plastics had number plates. The new plastics have no numberplates on the rear any more and the FMF if totaly uncovered.
What I like is the new Antifriction brake pedal shaft. the older solution is a pain in the ass. I will modify it with bearing, KTM had it in the late 90th.

I heard here in Germany that the e-start will be available as a screw on kit for the models from 2005, let see what will be the reality.

I think it looks good! The new front plastics give it a definite Euro look.

I probably would have went with white shrouds with red accent graphics to make the brilliant red frame pop more.

In reality it doesn't matter a whole lot how it looks cause we all know it works, and works well. Besides its just plastic. To me the front fender looks as if it will clear the front tire better than my 08 does at full compression so I dig it. I however hate black wheels with a passion, they don't get along well with tire irons.

I'm curious to see the racing and Six days versions. And the options we will be offered. :)

JMO but black rims, white plastic, and even the black swingarm have no real place on a woods bike. While cosmetics is of course not a priority, after spending big $$ on a bike its nice to see it looking good for awhile when you walk past it in the garage every morning, and less trashed when its time to sell. I like red plasic as it seems to hold up the best by far. I've had white XRs and my kids KLX is green/white and the white looks like hell afer a few rides. I hate spending money on plastic.

When white plastic scratches, it allows dirt to get in the cut and it does seem to "pop" out more.

I have an idea...just don't crash...well...I'm screwed. :D

I go over my white plastic with a little laquer thinner on a cloth after I wash and it cleans it right up . Then I wash it quickly again .

seems to be holding up pretty good except for where I looped it & broke the rear fender.Has frankenstien stitches now.

I agree with you on the black swingarm and rims. Really did not want to go the hyde swingarm route, but after 3 rides and all the rocks we ride here there are already a few nasty scratches .... My wife asked me how old the bike was lol.

have heard of guys sanding off the black on the sides of the rims to give a polished/satin steel finish look, will poss do this as it will make future scratches less visible
