You can learn to ride well on either, but I know you want an answer. I have owned an 01 250 and an 01 300. I want a 270!
What I have not done, but am going to do since my 250 needs a rebuild, is set up the 250 for all low end torque, and see what happens. I intend to use the later model 2 way ignition with a switch, larger PV cover for more low end power, jet it a tad rich on bottom to smooth it out, and whatever else I can do to make it have snap right off idle with no to little mid range hit. I want the hit right at the bottom with a very linear power curve like a woods-based 4t has. I think mid and top end pull will be fine, I could afford to lose a bit there with my riding style which is old guy, sit down, not make mistakes or get tired in order to go fast for an 80 mile Enduro. I am faster on whichever bike makes me smooth and tires me out the least.
I could probably have done mods to my 300 that would have accomplished the same thing. So I have told you absolutely nothing worth knowing, except that you can probably set up either bike to work well for you. Which you already knew from the previous posts. So I'll shut up now and quit wasting your time and mine!
Who said buy whichever you get the best deal on?
