I really hate the JIS bolts, even though I did buy 3 JIS drivers, so I bought socket screws in the black ox color and used them on the entire motor. I found that the black oxide bolts would rust up fairly quickly, but the solution I found was to use naval jelly/rust converter to turn the oxidation from red back to black. Just something to consider.

No problem, I know how much the little details matter to you. I had installed socekt bolts on my GS750 with polished cases so it jumped right out (plus I live in Seattle...). I don't think it was exactly naval jelly (been a number of years), but whatever liquid rust converter I had on hand.

Intake Air Leak at Moose Torque Reed Spacer and VForce

I was doing a leak down test and I am having an air leak at the intake. I have an air leak around the Moose Torque Reed Spacer and a smaller leak from the VForce. What about applying Yamabond 4 or Yamabond 5 to the gaskets? Ideas?:rolleyes:

If you are concerned about the gasket, maybe consider some synthetic grease instead of an adhesive. It would help the gasket swell a touch and provide a tacky surface that should adapt to any irregularities on the bonding surfaces.
 
WER Forks Arrived-First Time Bike is off the Stand

I just received the forks from Works Enduro Rider last night. The forks were hard anodized, rebuilt, revalved with new springs and racetech emulators with new Suzuki oem Fork boots(these were expensive).

What do you do with the bikes when you are done restoring them? Do you keep them? Ride them? Put them in a museum?

Have you seen the Kaplan motorcycle museum videos on YouTube? He has a ton of cool bikes.

Doubt he would spend the money on suspension etc if it wasn't going to be ridden hard. Pictures remain here as backup. :D

I ride them on a lot of single track but if I race I usually ride my gasser.
 
Finished!

I installed the number plate graphics last week. Yesterday, I installed the pipe which was restored by Fusion One and I put a gallon of premix in the tank. She started on the 2nd kick and she sounds awesome!:D:D:D:D
