Am I nuts? 1999 EC 250

Thanks for posting that weight. Seems heavy, but my XC 200 feels like a feather compared to my EXC 450, so the 450 must really be a tank.

Well we have weighed tons of bikes. You'd be surprised how heavy they actually are. This is 5 lbs heavier than a 2005 kx250. Keep in mind that full of fuel with guards etc. We had 3 bikes on this ride and we weighed them all. 2007 WR 450 came in at 273 and 2015 yz250fx came in at 253. The interesting part is the yz while riding felt heavier. We all switched bikes to get the feel and all 3 experienced riders said the same. The GG felt the lightest while riding. I hated the 450 for the type of riding we were doing yesterday. I only put a couple miles on it before before i swapped out. But it's a great dual sport

Back to needing a skid plate. My homemade one didn't last. Oh well was worth a try.

I am thinking I'll buy an aluminum one for now.

But I may also try my hand at carbon fiber. I'll just need to make a mold. Other than that not much more difficult than fiberglass. I've built a couple of fiberglass canoes so this much smaller.

Anyone have any suggestions for a skid plate?

Geez that was a year ago. I have the mold and carbon fiber, just no time at this point.

She has run hot the last 2 trips. Never has before. I did whack the pipe hard enough that it was up against the rad on one side and a coolant hose on the other. So I figured that was it. I put a new pipe on and topped off the coolant. It still leaked coolant out the overflow hose. And it was cold and rainy all day.

I made one out of a small piece of uhmw and welded 2 tabs by the foot pegs and used the stock t bar front mount. Works great and slicker than shit

Try a new radiator cap. I have discovered this solution on three consecutive times with the same condition. Runs hot, bubbles out of the overflow, but never really "boils over." New cap, no problems. And they all had this condition within the last six months. Very strange. A tell-tale sign is looking at the seal on the rad cap, to look for an uneven mark on the rubber. But usually a swap from one bike to the other will help identify the problem/solution.

Good call. Doesn’t a KTM cap work? I don’t need a 1.8bar cap because realistically the 1.1 doesn’t over heat.

Yes, the KTM cap will work. I swapped my 1.1 for a 1.8 to cure a condition exactly like yours, then when the 1.8 cap went bad I used a 1.6, and no problem there, either. So it doesn't need to be 1.8, a 1.6 worked well for my situation. Heck, even a new 1.2 might cure your problem.

Be aware of the price, as I didn't expect to pay almost $30 for a rad cap. Search around a bit to see of there is an alternative/crossover.

gas gas ec 300 side stand

does anyone know what crossover part sidestand will fit the gas gas ec 300 -99 model

So I have my new front rim on.

I'll take a better overall picture this weekend before I ride.

Also I got rid of the mousse bibs and went back to tubliss. Just didn't like the feel of the bibs.

And while I was doing this went with an Ibex rear and Washougal II fatty front.

Haven't updated in a while. Been riding. Just finished another rebuild. No problem getting parts aftermarket. The bike really is dialed in.

I jumped on my buddies Beta 350RR and he rode my GG. He said that is one of the most dialed in its ever been. We both have significant time on each others bikes.
