I just purchased a 250ec I've had 2 strokes my whole life and did my own port and polish work but I've never owned anything with a power valve. I was wondering if anybody had done a gasser head and if its worth doing. Thank u

Trey at Wildcat Motorsports did my 09 KTM 300XC and I did notice more low end torque. He does Gas Gas and Mike@Cycleplayground also does them. I would personally get the jetting sorted and then worry about the head if needed.

I smoothed out/cleaned the exhaust port and intake tracts, I did notice more low end and the bike ran way better, but I also did new rings and reeds at the same time, I also cleaned the power valve

here is a picture of half way through

notice that I have the power valve removed when porting

Looks good I'm thinking of doing it since I have to rebuild anyway the previous owner snapped a ring so I'm ordering a rebuild kit and have to have the cylinder replated so now is as good as anytime to do the cylinder cleanup.

There is a 300 cylinder and head on ebay for reasonable money. You can convert your 250 to a 300 if you like.

I've had both heads set up on my Gassers. Squish band clearance and angles as well as compression ratio adjusted. Cleaned up the ports on my 300 cylinder as they had a few casting dregs and polished the exh port. Never bothered on the 250 cylinders.

Thanks for the replays will definitely check out eBay thank u and my other question is I have an 01 are the cylinders the same for certain years or can I use one from let's say an 05, does it have to come from an 01

porting

check out my 'project el diablo' in the united kingdom section (page 4 ) and you will see what i did

sorry I dont know how to copy the pictures from there and post on this one

When it comes time for a bottom end rebuild the cases are going to get some serious love, there is a bunch of power hiding in there. My cylinder measured up pretty well and the casting is clean .

I was wondering if someone can tell me what the SL on my piston means I tore it down and while inspecting the piston it reads 66.33 SL any idea what the SL stands for, thank you
