Hi. i?m new to bikes and to 2 strokes.
I ve got hold of a 2003 EC 250 and got some problems i think are due to jetting and any advice welcome -not too technical please !
problems..
-tickover hard to set ..when hot have to adjust on handle bar throttle adj and cold runs fast ! adj for cold it wont idle hot ..just stops
-heavy bogging /hesitation on 1/8 to 1/2 throttle .above 1/2 and top end good with throttle wide open.
- oily goo fron silencer (normal on 2 stroke?)
-if cruising plug is black and wet and eventually fouls up
I cleaned the carb ,all vents clean.
Cleaned exh pipe and renewed silencer padding.
Clean fuel at 50.1 mix ..
pwk 38 carb-i put in recommended standard jets 172 main 58 pilot. removing 185 /40.with only slight improvement..( my needle is N1 EG)
Float height at 16mm
W.O.T gives light brown dry plug.
Compression cold is 172 psi.
Reeds look good.
Im at sea level to 400m. 20 to 30 Deg C ( not F!)Warm and dry climate. im not racing -just having fun.
Any ideas on jetting or poss solutions- do i have a mechanical fault some where else?
Thanks Gary
