These are exciting times for Gas Gas and us as a community. Here's to hoping for great success.
As an official four stroke hater, I have to admit that after reading the article I was wanting a 250F YamaGas. Too bad they didn't retrofit a juice clutch in the process.
I have a couple rough designs for a Yamaha 250F slave cylinder. I also have a young riding buddy fresh out of engineering school who rides a 250F to do some detail work and drawings, and a neighbor who just bought a machine shop. If we can come up with something cheap enough to make, we may make a go of it. There a million 250Fs out there. My biggest problem is time.
Nice to see Go-Fasters showing so much enthusiasm, just what GG need.
Looking at the Cycle News article it stated that the EC 200 and the 250F had the same frame as the 125. Previously the 200 shared the same frame as the 250/300EC. Is this right, is the 200 in a slightly smaller frame for 2010 ?
Although it would be nice I'm sure it's no deal breaker. The Japs know how to make an easy pull cable clutch.
There is one instance where the cable clutch is a good thing and that's with the Rekluse. Especially if you want to use the LHRB setup AND keep your clutch lever having the cable clutch makes it a far easier process to do than trying to deal with 2 master cylinders. And.....Rekluse already has the Pro model available for the Yamaha motor and the new Core EXP clutch could be ready by the end of Sept. Sweet!
Oooh, EXP clutch. That would be a bonus, do the 300 kit on top of that. That should be a fun little bike.
Just for the record, even if I buy one of these, I'm keeping my 300. I still hate four strokes, and as cool as the Rekluse is, it's not worth the money in my opinion. I don't have any trouble pulling the clutch in on my bike.
I beleive the 250/300 and 125 frames are the same size anyway, the difference being in the engine cradle.
I do not like big 4-strokes, been there done that. The 250F is different. It lets you ride harder longer because its smooth and will not bite. A 450F will punish you bad for mistakes.
I will admit that 250f's are fun, it's just the cost of repair and maintenance on them. The good thing about this WR motor is that Yamaha has a very good reputation with this particular engine. It seems to be the most durable Japanese 250f on the market. Note, I said Japanese..... The Husky is untouchable as far as reliability.
