Apparantly this is a HUGE problem across the internet. It's known as the "google redirect virus" and it's nasty and very sneaky in different forms and most of the usual virus and malware programs do nothing to find it let alone remove it. Some people have struggled for weeks and months trying to rid themselves of the problem.
Read about it here if you're interested on google...it's safe

Although not a 100% solution for everyone the program Hitman Pro downloaded from the Cnet site for free (which is a safe site also) did the job for me and most others as well. It found 3 hidden trojan viruses and a DNS issue which is also a symptom. There are other more involved solutions depending on severity of the problem but this took all of 10 minutes to complete from start to finish
Between that and all the other programs I ran on my computer it's working awesome now. Hopefully I can keep it this way for awhile. So I'm the winner after all this and get to buy myself a beer Hope this can help out someone else as I'm sure somebody is gonna get it at some point.
