Confused

I order a Ransom case saver from Gofasters, they were out of stock and offered me a cool red billet GasGas one for the same price so I said sure. However now that I have it, I am confused, does it replace the plastic guard over the front sprocket? If so my front spocket is totally exposed, which seems concerning to me. Or is this billet case saver used in conjunction with the stock plastic guard. Or maybe this fits a different bike, does anyone know what the heck Im talking about? Cheers.

The billet unit is designed differently.

Does it look like a half-moon on the front side of the sprocket? If so, all is well.

Hi, upon further inspection it appears it is used in conjunction with the plastic guard. Nova Scotia, is there no chance if something getting chewed up in the sprocket, or is that just not likely?

I have my plastic thingy on with the case guard.

We usually don't have to worry about mud here in Arizona. We did have one mud race and, yes, it did get packed full of mud (clay). But so did everything else.

Ive never left the plastic guard on any of my bikes, just instantly switched to the case saver type aluminum guards that just are like a quarter moon. around the sprocket and leave the side of the sprocket open. I didnt realize people actually used those...I just though it was something they added at the factory for saftey regulations that everyone took off, like a chain guard on a cheap bmx bike...

Thats exactly why they are there, regulations, just like the self retract sidestand.

I remember reading an interview with Johnny Campbell in Dirt Bike a decade ago. He was explaining how he had lost the bolt or clip that holds the counter shaft sprocket on and had the finish the last stage of some Baja race holding the sprocket on the shaft with the side of his boot. :0 Try that with that stupid plastic guard in the way. ;)

We have mud every second ride here where we live. Lost of hard rocky, roots trails with standing water and bogs to pass by, so the guard can really pack it in there. You would be hard pressed to get anything stuck in there while riding.

The three bolts that hold the clutch slave mechanism into the engine, would anyone know what torque those shouldbe at. I recall tightening them up pretty snug but now I am leaking after installing this case saver. Thanks all.
