Demos seem to be up to the dealers at this point, will there be any gas gas supported demos in the future? I'm thinking of going back to a 200 but I need to ride one in this brand first i have a 2008 ec 300 now. Thanks

Gas Gas Offroad only has two full time employees at this point so it's hard to put on demos. I have a 200 coming back from the Air Group team now that the National Enduro series is over. Where do you live?

How do the newer 200s run? I'm considering this as well, as I'll keep my 250 for awhile too. I think I'd like slightly less bike for harescrambles and less technical enduros.

The 200's are popular up here we have alot of tight single track riding it would be cool to see something different than the orange bikes out on the trails and at races. My dealer has one but I want to ride one before I buy one.

I haven't ridden a 200 yet. I'm going to get this one shipped here so I can ride it. I've had a ton of people ask me this and I don't know what to tell them. The 2012 should run the same because the engine won't be substantially different.

I am also intrigued by the 200. I absolutely loved my KTM200's and KDX's. That 200cc motor is just about perfect for our tight NW woods. I have never ridden a Gasgas, but from everything I've read it seems like it could be a perfect fit. KDX-like motor with Gasgas suspension and ergos. IMO the KTM was too snappy and the KDX motor with mods was just about perfect.

But, one thing I like about my DE300 is that I dont have to be as busy as I was on the smaller bikes. I really like how my 300 can carry a gear high coming out of corners and in the tight stuff. It also seems to track a bit better and seems more planted, maybe because of the extra weight or inertia.

There are certainly trade-offs with each bike.

I just need both a Gasgas 200 and 300 to solve this dilemna:D

You should be able to swap motors around from '05 to '12 if the new cyl has the same exhaust position.

I wonder if you ask to have them made for the US as XC200s with the 2k2 ignition stock, instead of the 2k3. The lighter stator really brings the 200 engine to life, its a bit slow to rev up with the 2k3. Makes it rev up faster, but still retain torque if you want it. Its easier to make a 2k2 heavier than a 2k3 lighter.

I'm gonna have to spend some time on a 200 myself. I worked for Kawasaki for 20 years and must have owned a hundred KDX 175/200/220s. I really liked the KDX motor. I really disliked the KTM 200. It hit waaaay to hard for me. Is the 200 with the 2K2 similiar to a KDX motor?

200 motor with 2k2, 9oz fww, and pv cover makes an electric smooth bike. you can make it peaky with ignition and jetting changes. i made it pretty smooth, with a minor hit in the mid range.. absolutely nothing like a ktm 200 motor. very tractable in the woods, no wheel spin at all.... with 2k2 no fww, no pv cover makes it much more peaky, but even then still less peaky than a ktm 200... i never rode one with a 2k3, but i would think it would be really slow to spin up... i've never ridden any gg with 2k3 though - both of my 300's are 2k2/pv cover/fww/doma or messico.. i take the gnarly off immediately....i really dislike that pipe.

I do not like the 2K-3s on the 250s either, and have a 2K-2 in a box ready for the new bike. On a 200 it seems like it would be ridiculous heavy, especially considering the overall mass of the lower end/primary components being based on the 250/300.

As far as the PV cover, that will not be an option on the '12s if the cyl is indeed different and sheds the left side chamber.

I really don't know what I have as it is really no concern......the wire come out of the case around 1pm...2k2?
Clay, just think of the Gas'er 200 motor like a tamed down 250, or a KDX 200 on a gallon Red Bull...I have rode several Gas'er 200's, KTM 200's and like the Gas 200 much better. Mine is tweaked a bit, with a nice mid punch, however it has not lost it's "lugability" just requires a little clutch or down shift to get it back onto the pipe if you choose to.

Clay,

Not sure if you are gonna be up in KY....I bought Dave Browns 300...Is he getting a 200? I would really like to try one....

You bought the 2011 300 E start from Dave? I don't think he will be getting a 200.
I may have an '11 you can try if you want to meet me somewhere or I may hit one of the KY hare scrambles. I think I'm going to the Mid South HS this weekend since it's only 50 miles from home.
