differences between WR and GG 450

I find the WR very much a load working it quickly through the woods. Power is awesome but is a load to ride. GG about the same?

I, too, would like to know a little more about the GG450 with fuel injection ('08 vintage).

Any experience with it? Good power? Reliable ?

If you are talking about the Yamaha WR450 vs the GG450 then for me you can't really compare the 2 except they are in the same cc class IMHO. I had a 2003 WR (first year) and it was almost impossible to ride on rocks and in the woods. It was clumsy, the power delivery was too abrupt and always gave problems off idle. No matter what you did with the carb it would catch you out sooner or later. I went with a Rekluse to get round that but it was far from ideal. The GG does not have any problems off idle and the power delivery is smooth throughout the range. No big hit anywhere in the range. It's a quicker steering chassis and has better suspension especially the forks over the KYB which are a bit dead by comparison. Brakes are about the same as they ought to be. The EFI is reasonably reliable apart from an increasing number of wiring problems on bikes now getting on in years.
Hope that helps

@qui-gon I think you are, to a certain extent, comparing the old WR with the old GG. The new gg450 has the old carb WR engine and the new WR has the new injected engine in the yz250 chasis with the SSS forks

Since both models were v late on the shop floor I guess it will still be a while until someone has had a chance to ride both

And the GG450 with the yamaha mill will not be sold in the US.. as per yamaha..it will be interesting to see what happens in the future.. I wish they would pair up with TM again.. that 450 is really impressive.

Agreed. No reason to spend R&D if TM would allow a deal.

But that wouldn't make importing them to the USA any easier. That EPA is a major hurdle and a mountain of paperwork and expense.

The TM's are already here and do not say "not for highway" on the paperwork.... I've been drooling over one already..

That?s not completely right. The new 450GG has got the 2012 WR engine but with a Carb.
