Took the bike for a ride through the forest today with a few friends. Was very hard to start cold, but once it was warm it started easily each time. I made sure to open it up at every opportunity, but definitely running rich currently. Bring on the new needle!
All was going well until we started to head home. It felt like it was surging, so I reached down and flicked over to reserve which fixed that. Then about 5-10 mins of medium+ throttle top gear riding later, it suddenly started sounding louder, and then died. Still had what I estimate to be about 2L left in the tank. Disconnecting the fuel line from carb I confirmed normal tap position was dry, but fuel was coming out fine on reserve.....
No amount of kicking it over would start it.
By then we were on local roads again, so got a mate to bring the ute and I just loaded it on and went home. Tomorrow will put more fuel in and see if it starts....
