FMF Pipe on 2012 model

FMF asked us to send them a 2012 300 so that could build a pipe for it. I agreed as long as I got a pipe from them as soon as possible. I got it a few days before we left to go to the WY National Enduro.
Wow! It really makes the 300 pull hard. It doesn't give it a hit....just makes it pull harder off of the bottom. It doesn't hurt the power anywhere. Only makes it stronger. If you have a 2012 300 or 250, you need one of these!

Sweet glad the put one together for the new GG's. Thanks Clay for getting one sent over so they could make it happen.

On my list.

"Fatty" ? "Gnarly" ? Torque pipe? Rev Pipe? Something else? 19 gauge steel? 18 gauge steel?

What was FMF shooting for? What do you think the profile of the stock GG pipe was designed to do?

Should be the same as their other pipes, yes? $200+

You guys give me waaaaay too much credit. I don't know the price or if it is a gnarly of fatty, 18 guage or 410 gauge. I think it is the only one they built. Just buy it!

... hah! I'll take mine in 12 gauge, with a little gold dot on the end.

Only slightly more seriously, did you have to re-jet from stock? How was the packaging (frame clearance, bracket alignment, silencer joint)?

My guess is it willl be the Fatty and 18ga. and sell for $200.00 -$230.00. In any event it's good to have the aftermarket options open.

pic please :)
I support FMF whenever I need a pipe/silencer. they keep mucho inventory and are great to deal with.

Clay,

Is the bend close to the OEM GG pipe, so the same pipe guard or a Hyde will fit?

Steve,
I put it on the bike and went to WY. On Thursday we did a ride near Stugis with Ross Rohde from Roscoe's in Rapid City. The bike ran good there with the stock jetting so I suspect it will be lean here in the southeast. I haven't started it since I got home.

Everything bolted up fine. No tweaks or anything necessary on frame or pipe joint. I will try to post some pics later today.

Glenn...the bend is different but I think a guard will still work.

Clay,

Think they will make a straight silencer like a Power Core for the '12 ?

BTW, the Hyde for the '11 looks like a 90% fit on the '12. The large hole in the front needs to be extended right a little to clear the pipe mount bracket. Once that is done, the holes look like they will line up very close to the frame tabs. A little trimming/heating/bending here and there and a custom rear hanger and it should work. The Hyde/AXP Frankencombo I envisioned might not be needed.

Leo Vince has their X3 silencer in stock for the 2012. It is a straight through with a removable spark screen.

Hows the pic coming along clay? Im also wondering how is it they can take the standard chamber and in no time make it so you can notice a massive difference? Not saying it Cant be done just wondering how?

I really don't know why this pipe makes the bike pull so hard but it does. I took a photo with my son's bike in the background for comparasion and the bends almost look the same. I do think it leaned the bike out a tad so that probably helped some.

That is a good looking pipe. Going to order one myself.

Clay, do you have to remove that damper collar to get to your tank bolt? I have the top mount and see you have the submount.
