i have a 450 wild thats hard to start,so i jumped started it of a battery charger and fried the ecu,(tested the battery charger and it was giving out 18 volts).
gas gas want $1000 for a new one.so i opened up the ecu and can't see anything obvious.does anyone know which part cooks in this situation and can it be replaced.
cheers,

What is it doing?I ruined a ecu on my cannondale before by arcing the fuel pump.Might be hard finding a used ecu for a gg 450 quad, where are you located?

That is great. What did he do to it? Please post specifics. I am sure it will help somone in the future.

ok first the embarrassing story how we got to this situation.had the common hard to start issue(which we have sorted now by adding more shims to the exhaust valve with the decomp mechanism ,its now 0.1 gap).so trying to get the bike started we hooked it up to a battery charger, that we latter discovered was putting out over 15 volts, blew up the ecu(no spark and no power to fuel pump).bought a new ecu from gas gas $1000.installed new ecu, hooked up battery the wrong way around, fried new ecu.opps.so decided to open up old ecu to have a look, and we could see a small part of the circut board near where the plug plugs in,the green paint had burnt and the copper melted (braking the circut) took it to the electronic bloke.he tested the diode that the burnt circut went to and it was fried so he replaced it and soldered a new bit of wire to replace the burnt circut, charged us $20 put the ecu back in and it fired up.
