gas gas 300 problem head or base gasket?

Had a problem with my ec 300 where it started revving as if it was getting air and then got very loud as if it had a hole in the exhaust and found I had to put half a litre of water in it after riding in tight woods where it would have got warm. I found it had loosened the exhaust manifold and wen I removed the expansion pipe there was water in it and found this in at the power valves.

Is this normal the oil is like a yellow milky colour i run it on castrol 747. The water in the expansion pipe may have came from washing it as it was only started for a second after washing.

Just a piece of mind I would change both gaskets, doese look rusty dirty water. If your using water like that its a leak or gaskets
Any way you could pressure test it

No the water is clean i had just flushed it and put in anti freeze its like milky oil round the manifold. I put water in it and then went and drained the carb in case there was water in it then took it a run and seemed dead on went another bit and it started to get loud and rev funny again so I rode it back to the car about a mile and the water level didnt move. Bit of a pain to change them if I don't need to just. But there was a small amount of rusty water on the exhaust and rad pipe on the right had side which is y I checked the water in the first place.

Water or coolant will turn a milky color like that when mixed with oil. Your may have a leaky head gasket. Or like you said your pipe had water in it? I would of take your pipe off and see if any water comes out?

Probably a worse case scenario but I was looking at a jug I had laying around and there is waterjackets that run right next to the exhaust port. could there be a crack ?

Water did run out of the exhaust tho it was clean no oil or anti freeze which make me think it was washing as the manifold was loose. Suppose it possible to be cracked but there was anti freeze in it and hasn't been cold enough unless getting to hot done it. Maybe lift the cylinder off and take a look.

If you exhaust spigot had vibrated loose, I guess it could cause some strange running symptoms. Would it cause an air leak on the intake stroke? It would surely change the way the engine works. If it was loose, and you went through some puddles/creeks it would also allow an opportunity for water to enter the engine.

The fact you had to top the coolant up a bit, could have resulted from running lean/hot and blowing some coolant out the overflow.

As others had suggested, a quick pressure test of the cooling system would have quickly identified if you were losing coolant anywhere (including cracks).
