GasGas 250 EC Bogging in tech and hill climbs

Hi

Need some help the bike is perfect at top speed but is bogging and dies om me in tech and extreme up hills.

where can one get a proper needle, and jetting chart?

we ride between 1300 - 1600m inland

Needle = N3EH
Main = 172
Pilot = 40

thank you in advance

:confused:

I'm not familiar with needles, but your jets seem a bit rich at your metric altitude. And it's summer there in South Africa, yes?

That shouldn't cause it to shut down, however.

More importantly. What model bike and carb is it on? AS1 or 2? Confirm 38mm carb. Has the float level been set?

Can you clarify what you mean by bogging? Are we talking gasping hestitation like you'd experience trying to rev an engine thats not up to temp yet? or is it loading up?

Hi , Yes it is Summer now. I cant seem to find a proper jetting Chart for the carb.

I have change the spark plug numerous times already.

The bike is a GasGas 250 EC 2005
It is a Keihin pwk 38mm.
The float level has been set aswell

what is the difference between AS1 or 2? how do I check ?

it is like it is hesitating and the bike makes like a deeper and slower sound as normal and it then loses power. If that makes any sense ?? :D

Sounds lean.

On an 05 it will be an AS1. Round screw cap on the top, deep bowl on the bottom. Believe 16mm is stock float height for this model. I'd set it to perhaps 17.5mm

Most find an N3EG a bit better. As a quick test, double check the clip position on the needle. If its 2nd from the top, move it down one to 3rd. Retest. If its blubbery at 1/4 throttle but still hesitating off the bottom return to a leaner clip position and go richer on the pilot jet.

Yes, it is the "Round screw cap on the top, deep bowl on the bottom"
The needle position is on 3rd in the middle.

Will try your suggestion on the richer pilot jet, thank you

Where can one get a proper jetting chart for this carb or bike ?
