Gasgas white hubs, silver rims??

I don't like black rims and they way they get all scratched up. I have scored a set of silver excels and I am thinking of painting my hubs white to match the 2011 look. It will be 2pac paint, not powdercoat, as it looks better and is very thin, so it doesn't flake off easily.

I was considering red, but the 2010's have red hubs, so I wanted something different. Will it look stupid??

Hard to tell. Get someone to use paintshop to make look like you want it. I am powdercoating my rims black with clear on the rim edge and the hubs will be black with a red stripe or two in the middle of the hub. It may end up looking bad but I can always strip it and start over.

I am surprised to hear talk of powder coating rims in the states. Over here in OZ we only ever re-anodize them as it doesn't chip like powder coating or wear when changing tires. No manufacturer powder coats rims, seems a strange choice to me.

Love to see them when you are done though!

It might look good but may be hard to take care of. I want a blue set for my 2010 GasGas like I have on my 2011 TM with polished hubs. I just don't like the flat black they put on the 2010 GG bikes. If you do it I'd like to see pics.

Might look good, but have to see them to say for sure. I agree white hubs would probably be harder to keep looking good, so I'd consider that. I actually liked the red hubs they did, but I'm more fond of plain polished hubs I see my reflection in (scary as it may be) than anything else.

LOL would you go over a big jump or fly through the woods with one of their wheels! I don't see a problem with wheel/hub color options. Heck being different keeps the aftermarket in business and keeps everybody from just riding a Honda.

Didn't mean to bust anybody's chops the thread is actually kinda fun to follow.

Its been a long winter here in Minnesota and we just got another 12 inches of snow last night and Springs probably not for another three weeks.

Heck all I want to do is get out and ride again regardless of what color my hubs are.

Hey Steve, I've got an idea, I need to put in a parts order. You can save me some freight and just load your bike and deliver it to me here in NW Arkansas. You could stay in the cabin and ride for about a week before you go back north, maybe work in the Wudi ride, White Rock Enduro or Trainrobbers. Snow should be gone by then :-)

I guess I have been lucky as I swapped some old rims I had here for the new silver rims, so they owe me nothing really. I wont be afraid to scratch silver rims when changing tires, especially if I am using mousse tubes now.

The idea to 2pac paint the hubs was because I had a mates CRF hubs painted red and even after a year they look better than the 2010 Gasser red powdercoated hubs did from new.

They will be easier to clean when painted. Not wanting red, I was lost what other color to do them. The next major color on the bike is white, so that is what I will do.

I will post a pic once they are done in a few weeks (got to ride an enduro before I can pull them apart.)

Busted, you have to come now haha

I think im taking my camp trailer, so we can set up a mega DBW pit area

And you dont need white hubs to make you look silly, you can do that pretty well now. haha

I think it will look pretty good:D

Here is the first picture. Front hub in super mirror black and super mirror red.

Cool, that is different.

Mine are unlaced and at the painters getting the white on them. Should have pics of them back together with silver rims the end of next week.
