Just wondering if anybody has any review of one of these gel seats listed in the Gasgas competition parts on the website. Wondering what would be involved in fitting one to my 2012 ec300 r. The standard seat on my 2012 is painful after about an hours riding.
Thanks

I don't have any experience with the gel seat. But I figured I'd say it before anyone else did.

You should stand up pretty much all the time. After I began standing up all the time I felt better after my rides. Way less beat up and a lot more energy. Plus my riding is much faster.

Also I don't have to wear compression shorts anymore. I just wear boxers. It's a small thing. But nice.

Sorry I don't have info on the seat! 😛

Thanks Shang,
I knew I was asking for this reply when I wrote this post, lol. I know there is going to be a lot that disagree with me but I find I actually ride better and faster sitting down more. I turn my compression back more than most and most bumpy sections are absorbed by the bike. For the sections that are more challenging I do stand. I have friends that cant understand why this works for me and not them but it problem has a lot to do with what your used to. Don't get me wrong though, there are definitely times where I find it better to stand.
I'm 6ft 3inch and find I hunch over a lot when standing. It just seems to work for me.

Hahah! Fair enough! Whatever keeps you out on the bike and works for you!

I'm 6'4" and I use bar risers. The truth is, I do have a tall soft seat foam. I really don't sit much but the tall foam makes the bike more proportioned to my height. It's a guts foam and it really does make the seat much more bearable.

I took the Shane Watts riding school and you sit a ton listening to instruction. There's no way I would have made it more than an hour sitting on the stock seat.

All lazy 4 stroke riders should spend a week with the 12/13 gg seat.it'll improve their riding no end!you dont sit for long do you!as long as their are plenty of corners its ok as you keep shifting from one ass cheek to another:D,the seat is at its miniscule worst on the straights when you're right in the middle of it!
At 5'8" im loath to go the taller seat tho and as far as moving around on the bike it works very well and youll immediately notice if your compression is too stiff or your rebound is too aggressive!(trying to find a silver lining)

Try it. You'll find that you actually end up standing more because the distance to go from sitting to standing is less.
Plus, you get a softer seat.
I'm 5'9" and have had the taller seat since '06 and I wouldn't go back.

Geesh you bunch of girls, lol! Anyway I'm barely 5'7" on a good day and I shave my seats down with an electric carving knife almost to the plastic. Not only so I can touch the ground a wee bit better, but also gives me more clearance between my ass and the seat when standing. I do 30-50 miles and don't sit all that much, even when I do it doesn't bother my ass. Stand up!

Ok...going to sound crazy......this past weekend at a local race I noticed a guy had a airline that extended out past the base of the seat. I asked him what it was for? He responded that he has back issues and can't stand riding, so he sits down most of the time...sure enough, I watched his moto and he was sitting except for the jumps.....

He went on to explain how he made an air seat............. They way he explained it.

1. Cut out the foam.

2. Inserted a tube - didn't ask how big or what type? I should have asked!

3. Inserted a tube into the cavity.

4. Trimmed foam away that once filled cavity.

5. Made the foam fit over the tube so it looked OEM

6. Put on the seat cover

7. Ran a nice air line from the valve stem of the tube beyond the seat base / rear fender area.

8. Secured the airline with the valve stem cap down with a small zip tie.

9. Uses a small bicycle air pump to adjust the PSI of the tube, or a valve stem remover to let air out.

I wish I had taken a picture of it.....freaking trick...looked very normal.....but he stated that it works excellent and has not had any issues.

The seat looked perfect, no weird bumps, humps or anything crazy.....just had a nice cushy but yet firm feel to it when I was pressing down on the seat.

I'm sure there is trial and error to be had, but it was trick and meet his needs.

It's not always about height it's about the amount of lard on your butt. I have almost zero natural padding and consider my Fisher seat the best mod I've made to my bike. Guts is better than stock but Seat Concepts and Fisher are way better.
