GG 300 Race with full TTX

I just had my forks upgraded with TTX22 inserts. My suspension "guru" ended to put .46 springs in. I just could'nt get those Zokes to act like I would like them to act. My bike was equipped with TTX44 shock allready. I had 50 spring in it. I'm going to change 52 rear shock spring, because 50 seems to be too soft to my use. I'm racing Finnish GNCC series in A/B/C +40 veteran class.

Hope to get chance to test my new forks this week. Annoyingly my both wrists are not recovered from injury that I got during Around Lake Paijanne winter enduro about month ago. Still hurts to ride or race, but I'm trying my best.

Good luck on the wrists, those consistently are my weak point and the one consistent item I never seem to put on. not by any means a brace, but you might want to do some reading on the new design EVS wrister glove. I am ordering some within the next week see how they work. One thing I have never found myself do is ride without my gloves, so i think the wristers will be the key to making sure I have something there to help out as knowing myself, I'm inclined to "not" put on certain gear at times for whatever reason.........you just get complacent at times you know? I now wear an EVS ballistic only, as it was the only way I could insure I had the chest, elbows and my kidney brace on, but I still find myself making snap decisions and finding myself in the woods without my knee guards!

What problems did you have with the the 48mm Zokes? I've got a few hrs on my 12 and I think they are really good for the riding in my area.

Well I think they could have been good if they have been revalved second time. Stockers were hard, but bottomed easily. Got them revalved and tuned and they were softer and worked better, but still bottomed almost the same way.

About 10 hours after service and revalving right forks rebound clicker (that didn't "click" before revalving att all) was dead again.

I got good deal from our ?hlins specialist. Other reason is that we don't have so many Marzzochi 48 tuners here in Finland. Sending overseas during race season was not an option either.

About my wrists. I use EVS wrist brace. They are good. The only problem is that I got some damage to my thumbs too.

But No pain - No game :D

Next time I'll try to choose my line better...

What spring rate did you go for with the forks??

I have just fitted the TTX inserts into my Sachs legs (2010 Race) with a set of .46 springs. Also upgrading the Ohlins 888 to a TTX44 shock with a 5.4 weight spring.

We have same springs both front and rear. My weight is about 95 kg full geared.

All that I can say about forks now is WOW! I think that I have never before riden bike with that good suspension. Just needed to adjust two more klics rebound and go back two klicks with comp. Then it was perfect to sandy mx track.

I'm going to have my rear TTX serviced on monday. It has now about 25 hours in it. After about an hour of hard CC or MX it starts to kick back a little. I think oil has lost it's best viscosity.

I have now both ends TTXed, Recluse EXP 2.0, S3 head with high comp insert and trusty adjustable PV cover

Very nice. I am the same once fully geared. I'm only 75 normally but carry way too many tools. Roadside mechanic. Haha!

I was actually pretty happy with the super stiff Sachs. They had the super hard spike in the mid range which beat me up some. I only have 1 short ride on the forks and immediately noticed they were much much better. I haven't even touched the clickers yet. Basically everything is stock settings including oil height. I'm using Silkolene RSF Pro 5wt and 280ml.

How much preload did you end up with on the shock to set the sag? Might give me a good starting point when I slap it in there. I had no real issues with the 888 either apart from some kicking at higher speeds over larger squar edge hits or logs. This was also with a 5.2 spring only.

Hey guys, some things I've noticed, btw mine are last years.

The inserts and springs take a while to beak in, maybe 5 to 6 hrs then rapid improvement over the next few.

They take a while to warm up and if you are trying to dial in settings, you need warm forks.

2.5 wt rsf seems to work best for me, it is roughly the cst of the recommended ohlins oil and gives the best ride and allows you to keep the clickers close to stock (im 19 out for everything except moto 15) which aids in bottoming resistance. I'm 13 out reb except moto 10. I use 310 mm oil and get soft bottoming when wheelying into hard g outs.

The forks have a 1 or 2 click "washout threshold" too much Compression and it starts to drift. It's at 18 for me except prepared sandy moto tracks.

My bike feels better with a soft sidewall tire like Pirelli ms32 or Metz 6de soft.

Once you get used to the different feel they are very confidence inspiring and don't wear you out.

I'm very happy with them.

Good info Simmo. I'll have to put some effort into setting mine up. Would really love to have someone knowledgable to assist me in the process. Usually I just ride the bike and adapt best I can, then make a change and see if its any better.

10mm preload in shock and 1mm in forks. It was a bit chalencing to measure ride height because I was alone in garage :D

2,5wt oil 350ml/leg. Ohlins gives 200-400ml/leg and 380 is what they recommend.

I found out too that they need to warm up before adjusting. My suspension guy said that these new ttx22 have new type pistonrings wich are tighter than previous models. That's why they need a bit more to brake in.

Strange that yours came with different oil heights. Even with mine set the way they are I am yet to bottom them. I set a zip tie around the lower leg for referrence. I've also been hitting square edges, roots and rocks, verticle step ups, and done a few slap down landings from said steps.

I have a section in the back yard that comes up a hill, over 2 roots, into a foot heigh square edge with a root at the top, which then runs up a set of stairs (built into the ground using timber). Punching the bike through here with the TTX is incredible. You know the suspension is working, and you can feel it, but its not like you have to hold on. With the Sachs you could actually feel the bars moving in your hands more.

GasTimppa,

Any chance you could let me know where you ended up on your clickers both front and back? I still haven't had a chance to dial mine in yet but first impressions I have gone in 4 clicks on rebound and out about 6 on comp (from stock). Haven't fitted the shock yet.

Haven't even had the chance to set the sag up yet Simmo, let alone take it for a ride. Its been fitted to the bike and looks pretty blingin though :D Next Sat I should be taking it out.

Front +2 clicks comp and + 2 clics reb (from ohlins factory settings = middle)

Rear comp in the middle, fast comp II, + 2 clics reb (I had to get rear modified because I had to add too much rebound clicks and in long race or practice oil got too much heat and lost it's viscosity)

Those are settings I'm using in MX track or GNCC races. In rocky enduro I think forks and shock could be a bit softer (maybe next time I'll go back 2 cliks and try...)
