Have you seen this scam?

I was looking on CL for "EC 300", and this came up:

http://georgia.findanycycle.com/motorcycles/2005-gas-gas-ec300us-2-700hydraulic-clutch.html

I e-mailed the guy, and this was his response:

Hello and thanks for your interest,

The bike is still for sale and is in excellent condition as you can see from the pictures.
Some minor plastic scratches,no accidents or any kind of damage and it has a clear title.
If you are interested in buying it, the price is $2,700 and this is with shipping costs to your location included. I'm selling the bike because I can't use it due to my new job (I work as a casino dealer on a cruise ship) and I don't have anyone in the US to whom I can give it.
All documents, including owner's manual, clear title and a bill of sale on your name will be provided along with the bike.
Also about payment and shipping I will use only eBay Vehicle Protection Program so we can both be protected.
If you are interested in buying it please provide me your full name and address so I can initiate the deal through eBay.
I am looking forward to hear from you.

Thank You,

H.Perkins

He sent some generic photos along with it, looks like the photos were taken out west, while the ad was posted from GA.

Very clever scam! I've seen the same thing before with a ridiculously-priced Toyota Landcruiser. I wonder how much $$ this stuff generates?

I've seen just about the exact same thing on a top-end mountian bike on Ebay.

eBay Vehicle Protection Program :p

Pretty sure ebay explicitly states it takes no responsibility when buying vehicles.

Dirty scoundrel. Some silly people must do it. IMO if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is.

Take notice he didn't say he would list it on Ebay. I had someone try to buy my jeep and wanted to use paypal. I googled this and found out that there is a dozen ways to fraud paypal. The only way to sell or buy anything anymore is in person!

If you do sell something in person don't accept a cashiers check. Only take green cash and have a good look at it, especially large bills.

also good to meet up at your bank branch and they can check the cash and deposit it straight into your account.

That is still 100% safe.
I've known people that did that and the check bounced a few days later. Since the seller signed the back of the check, he was resposible for the amount. :(

After the guy sent me photos, I responded and asked why he didn't just list it in Ebay; no response.

The first time I ran across this scam, the person aggressively answered my e-mails and tried to convince me that it was a great deal (Sure! if it was real....).
