Hi guys I'm new to this site and also to the forum thing

I have a question that I wouldn't mine some help on .
I have a gas gas 300 ec on a 2001year which I have had now for 3 months .
My problem is I have no traction on soft ground my wheel just spins and first gear is also short rainge
And when I clip it into second it's fine but the engine bogs down .
I have thought about changing the sprockets but what do I go to, I have 14t on front and 47t at the rear. someone also mention the jets in the carb try changing the starter jet. And help or advice on this would be much appreciated .

Many thanks

If you don't do much street or high speed riding I would start by going down to a 13t on the front, it will bring the gear spacing closer together. I'm currently running the stock 13-48 gearing on my 250, but have run up to 13-51 in the past. 13-51 brings the gears even closer together and is nice for really tight nasty trails as you are less likely to get caught in the wrong gear.

For first gear traction: make sure you're running a good rear tire, and if throttle control is an issue you can look at the G2 throttle cam system to soften the 300 bottom end.

Wes.

Thanks for the reply wes . As I do alot of enduro trail and green laneing
I think it would be wise for me to drop down on the front just to have a bit more control and traction in 1 & 2 gear . What are your thought in the starter jet or slow jet in the carb, would that cause the engine to bogdown .

Have you more info to the g2 throttle cam system ?

Many Thanks
Richy

Are you running the CCK needle ? It greatly improved how my EC300 runs. Low end traction is good. Sorry, can't remember what pilot / main I'm using - I only go near the carb to clean it now, since setting it up right.

Just a thought, would it be worth checking the condition of the rings / piston / cylinder ? I'm afraid a nine year old bike will most likely have been very badly maintained by some of it's previous owners. British trail riders in particular don't tend to do preventative or routine maintenance.

If you haven't heard of them Biketech Is a good UK source for GG parts and advice.

Hi yes i have a cck needle and running 180 main and a 38 starter or is it the other way around they where in the carb when i had the bike, all the top end
has just been done before i had the bike i think i ring Dave at biketech for advise on a new jet kit and what set up would benefit me . oh and i give the power valve a good old cleaning like new now lol
