Ideas needed for Spring Ride

I like the idea of Hatfield-McCoy. Tons of riding AMD tons of good single track. Durhamtown is nice but a little too flat for me. Gets boring pretty fast. Or what about the Daniel No one stuff? Could do Redbird one day and S tree to turkey foot the next

What about if we were to go to a 2 day event ? Or if we enlisted someone like Bud Matto to lead a day or 2 of Reading Anthrocite trail riding ? He owns Matto cycle and has lots of experience in his area . There is 20,000 acres or so in that riding spot ? Good to see that the topic is still going . Could we somehow get a number count for the different parts of the country ?

Right down the road from where Rod lives (central KY) is a great place for a two day event. Very good 12 mile hare scramble loop (tight and fun), long natural mx track recenently used for a national vintage race, lots of open fields for the kids and camping, and a club house with two bathrooms.

For an east coast gathering, I think we should seriously consider doing something within the Hatfield-McCoy trail system, and enlist a couple of our dealers to serve as tour guides, like Jamin at AOMC, Cross Lanes WV (there is a trail right beside the shop) and the guys at All Seasons at Mineral Springs, WV.

In the west, shoot man...you name it. Gunnison CO with Fritz riding point would be perfect, or what about Baja? I'm sure Randy at Skeeters in San Diego would be willing to be a trail boss.

For the northwest, get Bill Farrell from Bills MC and Gary at Gran Prix to show us their favorite trails. Might even con my old friend Jason Dahners to take a group up into the mountains of WA state. (Jason in photo)

Keep the ideas coming!

Should we post a poll on when and where since most of us are busy we need to plan out a ride that is a distance away ? Also as Rod suggested how about we set up regional rides ? For me a winter ride somewere down south on the East coast mite be a real draw for us ice riders ? Hatfield n McCoy would work for me also .

I could swing Hatfield-Mccoy if it's a multi-day thing. I have drove further for less interesting things. Think we should spread the dates of the regions just incase someone could hit more then one.

Throwing some good humored flak out there ( :D ), but Colorado isn't really west. If you want west, come out to Oregon or Washington and you'll find epic riding with thousands of miles of single track  That isn't to discount any of the other suggestions, simply proud of what we have so close to home.

Not sure if it's in your travel schedule, but getting out to Portland and having Bill set you up with a ride so we can show you around would be a pleasure. Tillamook State Forest is an hour away and offers incredible single track. Gifford Pinchot is 2.5 hours and takes that to the next level. Those are summer destinations, I'm sure Naches would be right up there too and I'd definitely attempt to make that work.

For a fall event, we have China Hat in central OR - hundreds of miles of trails in an area that's big enough to easily host a giant chunk of our Gas Gas riders.

I'd be happy to help if something is targeted for this neck of the woods, been planning smaller organized events for our group of maroons for years.

And here's a small sampling of the views you might see.

I rode MTB's in TSF when I lived in Beaverton OR before I got into moto. I'd love to get back out there and twist some throttle.

I still vote my neck of the woods in CO though, where else in the US can you summit a 12k ft peak on a dirt bike?

Hmmm...we might have to have a couple of "western" rides - I'd love to hit the areas in your pictures. And yeah - nothing close to a 12k peak to summit in this neck of the woods; all our mountains have too much snow...lol.

If you find your way back to this neck of the woods, hit me up - we have 2 200 GGs in the garage and the 2nd one doesn't get ridden all that often.

Awesome pics man, definitely a place I'd like to explore if I can make my way that far east.

That offer goes both ways, if you make it out to SW CO send me a pm. I'll make something happen.

I might be lucky and have bike in the east and west and then I can go to multiple ones of these:)

Now I know from the pictures I need to get to Oregon. I'm moving west so now I can get there with out days of driving each way.

If you are thinking winter ride in the south east, your best bet to avoid ice and snow would be Durhamtown or someplace further south. Highland park is very nice but if there is bad winter weather (as expected this year) they will get it whereas DP will not. If N GA gets ice, you may be looking at more than a two day event!
Personally, I think DP has better amenities suited for a large group than HP. HP definitely has the better single track but DP has been adding more.

Thanks for that info on Durhamtown.
I have 5 cabins booked for Feb 5-8, bunch of my PA / MD friends will be heading south and Durhamtown looked to have the most to offer in better odds of decent ground conditions and lots of on site lodging.

You will enjoy it I'm sure. I might be able to get my riding buddy's to come out that weekend if it doesn't conflict with race schedules.

You will find the "moose trails" section best if you don't like wide open stuff. There is a pretty good "GNCC" practice loop and some newer ST there as well.
If it rains a good bit the day or two before, the moose trails will most likely be closed but the other two usually stay open du to higher ground. I have not been out there in about a month so I don't know if any new ST was cut like talked about. It's been a pretty wet month or so where I am about 1.5 hrs west.

I kind of forgot this thread was out there. We have some very good riding here in the Black Hills of SD. Also the Wyoming National enduro is held about 100 miles from here in Upton. Could definitely put something together here if anyone was interested.
