Ignition map switch 06 300 and fork ques..

I just picked up a nice 06 EC300.
I have the old girl torn right down for a proper overhaul.
This is my first GG.
Came with an almost complete service manual. SO please bear with me, I'm still learning.
It seems to have an ignition map switch on the bar. When I traced the wires back they have just been hooked back into each other. SOOO, it's obviously not working as intended.
Where are they suppose to hook into?
Any wiring diagrams I have found don't even show the switch.
Also,
The lower fork legs (Marchozzi) have a black coating on them.
Is that stock?
They feel decent. New seals and oil but undersprung for me. I'm used to that.(6'3" 220 lbs)
I want to get them resprung but will they have to be recoated?
Am I better off with a complete front end from a newer GG?
Is that even an option?
Like I said before, this is my first GG so any info at all on the 06 model would be greatly appreciated.

The map switch connects to the CDI under the seat. If it it equal to my 06 EC200, there are two sort wires with bullet connectors coming from the CDI.

The fork legs are coated with a black low friction coating. This is stock.

You can replace the fork or even the complete front end. A lot of us have done so. Kyb SSS from a 2007 or newer Yamaha seems to be the most popular. Search this forum for fork swap or similar and you will find several threads that explain it in detail.

The black is probably DLC (diamond like coating). It's low friction. If it's intact then no problem. I had them on my 07 KX. The only thing I had to keep an eye on was that they were more prone to weeping oil if the forks weren't perfectly aligned.

Other than that, I'd re-spring it and run it. I really like my zokes...

Thanks for the fast response guys.
The black coating is mostly worn off on the legs about 6 inches from the seals.
So I assume they would have to be re coated?
Also sorry for posting this in the wrong forum.

I had a pair of forks where the DLC was worn off on top but they continued to work fine with no seal or bushing problems. I also currently have 2 bikes and 1 has DLC coated forks and the other does not. I do not see it is worth the money.
