INFO on 2014 GG??

Anyone got any inside info on the 2014 GG?
What we might see?
When we can expect official info?

I got some info earlier this week but am waiting on pricing and some other things before I send it to dealers. So far looks like some minor engine and frame updates. They will be using a new Reiger shock in 2014 rather than the Ohlins.

Actually thats not a hard fix if its a problem for you, done two so far.

Glenn --- I have a question on this, but this is not the place to talk about it.....
I would love to see some pics of how you have done it. I know I read your discussion about it here on the forum but would love to see some photos.

Bummer I'm not a fan of the color but that aside I think the masses are going to be more spooked by that suspension than the Sachs stuff. North America doesn't seem to respond well to things they've never heard of even if it is a quality part. Just my 2 cents

Could be true Trev, I had a conversation with the Ohlins USA guys yesterday in regards to springs for a local bike setup....It appears the the standard 888 (I forget the series #59xx I think) is being phased out and replaced by the 6310 series (I may be wrong on that # also) which is the Ttx spring, different ID.....if you are getting genuine Ohlins springs for our bikes then you have to make or purchase adapter rings to use the larger spring. This won't affect most of us that already have shocks as there are plenty of spring sources but may have played havoc with OEM use. imagine the affect on MSRP if they HAD to use a Ttx on all bikes, & the Sachs deal apparently didn't go well. In looking at the Reiger and it looks like a nice piece, and appears to have high & low speed adjustments, which may be confusing to some but is a nice feature, albeit hard to question Ohlins quality. I'm curious as to the rest of the story. But also glad they are sourcing quality (it appears) stuff Just my opinion...

Agreed Fred quality I'm not questioning but mainstreaming the bike may take a step back as a lot might be wondering about tuning and parts never mind re sale on something a lot have never heard of. Definetly not trying to be a downer just discussing what I think

I do agree & see your point, although the 48mm Zokes were kind of 'sprung' on the public without a lot of information, they do have the Zoke name on them. There were a few tuners that jumped into the fray and now there are setups for them that work. Reiger is a new name to this side of the pond for sure, my hope is that the good suspension tuner guys- Les, Steve, Evan, Dave (hint, hint) will take this info and get ahead of the curve on tuning needs. I saw a GG shock on Reigers 'used' sale list that is tempting to have here for testing myself, & heck I'm not even a tuner

Is that brand of shock used on the trails bikes? Yea.....that pink has gotta go!

One thing about it...at least the engine has remained the same for the last 13 years! Don't mess with a good thing!

I'm not overly impressed with the Ohlins 888. It works good, but no better than a Sachs or KYB, all being valved equally. The rebound adjuster is cheesey, and the crosstalk a little excessive. Ohilns is more of a marketing thing than a clear functional advantage, IMO. That said, lets hope this is a good change and not a price point one. Wonder if it will still have the 48mm Zoke forks? Maybe later they will have the cash to just do KYBs F&R and be done with it, like Husky did.

Look at little TM, they built their own shock, and its said to be very good too.

I think reiger know what they're doing by the looks, all top ten cars in dakkar used reiger.....i dont think quality will be a problem. I think it wll be all up to valving, it will be interesting to see if hrg will touch them, I hope they do.

They use the reiger 36 shock on the Raga replica, which is like a nambo, so I'd say its the schnitz.

My 2010 has the Sachs, and for my level of enthusiast trail riding, they are very good. Out of the box they were much closer to the valving I desire than the 2007 with Ohlins shock I had previously.

I'm not intending to upgrade any time soon.

On the wishlist, I would like to see some attention on better balancing the 300 to reduce engine vibration.

I've heard that about the tm shock as well that it is very good.My thing is not its function I'm sure they'll do a great job with there shock I just think its going to be a tougher sell for someone coming into the brand. The loyalist will still find a way to accept it. Who knows maybe they'll use there fork too!

That's my point, they could put a cheap grade Ohlins on the bike and its still an Ohlins, and better in the minds of the uninformed. This was done in '07. Early bikes had this crap Ohlins, not sure what model, but it ate upper bushings. Nothing like the one before it. Mine and later had Sachs, unknown at the time but in this case better quality.

All I can say is they better be able to supply Reiger parts.

I like my Ohlins on my 2011 EC 300.............kinda hoped they would have kept it on the 2014. Maybe the new one will be ok.:(

What did you do to sort this out? I've pulled it out & siliconed the whole thing up, but that's not a long term fix. I've already lost a race with a drowned bike this year. Have a national this coming weekend with deep water, holding fingers my silicone works.
