Jetting help for my 12 300

Nice one. Won't be able to crank up the volume to hear the meaty 2T goodness for a while. How did you find it ran? Improvement? Looks like some prime trails.

It seems I'm moving that flat spot around every time I mess with the jetting , but it was great just off idle with plenty of torque then a boggy bit then into the power and she flies , I did have it pretty near on saterday , but Sunday was cold and a bit damp and also in the welsh mountains

Sounds like a work in progress! I'll enjoy watching those other vids over a few bevvies tonight. Cheers

I have been out 3 times now since the last report , dropped the needle 1 clip pos and was still not running right , stipped down carb and checked float again and found it was 9.5 mm so i adjusted it to 8mm which was better but still not quite there .
I went back up to a 42 pilot and found that combination great , bike is now a tractor up to half throttle then it turns into a moto cross bike from half way and up :D.
Rode a tough time card event yesterday and it ran perfect , finished all tests well before time giving me time to recover for the next test, unfortunatly my camera mount was broke so no vids:rolleyes:

Nedw

Hi Diggs,

Sorry for my first post being a question. I have been lurking here for a while!

Do you have the UK part number for the NEDW?

Thanks Martin

13383-37FL0 NEEDLE,JET(NEDW)

It should be the same part number world wide. It will have to be ordered through an official Suzuki dealer. If they ask which bike its for just tell them its a 2007 RM250 and that should narrow it down.

Hi martin

Dont forget jetting is a personal thing , what works for me may not for you , i got the nedw from gasser grant ( thanks ) or i would have used the nedj as that is well regarded on here .
Saying that jetting is pretty good for my bike now , there is a very slight hicup just below half revs but thats only noticable if you are on the fire road , in the woods is great :D

Thanks Jakobi. Much appreciated.

This is my first two stroke so taking all the advice I can. I appreciate that they are all different though. For instance my bike has a 6.5 slide and not the 7 that GG specify. I guess a slightly smaller main may be needed?

From what I can see both the NEDW and NEDJ work well. I have the NEDW on back order.

Im going to follow Steve's advice till the new needle arrives and put the stock needle on the top clip.

Have you converted the lever choke to a manual one?

Cheers Martin

#6.5 slide is rich for a 300. May be tougher to dial in. Expect leaner straight section needles to work better.

Thanks GMP. What sort of needle is leaner?

Are slides expensive? Like i said this is my first 2T bike. To be honest im not sure whats good or bad!!!

I come from a DRZ which apart from being heavy worked really well.

The straight section is the last letter. The W is richer than the J. GMP is saying that the J will probably work better. The slide number will have next to no efffect on the main.

Make sure you double check to confirm if you have the 36mm or 38mm carb too. I have noticed most who got the 36 ended up with a richer slide.

Yes, the slide# and needle straight dia generally affect the same area the most. If you have issues, try a #7 slide.

Many thanks Guys. I will get the J on order as well. Then I can have a play.

I couldnt see a number on the carb so I will measure the diameter then ill know if its a 36 or 38.

Thanks again.

Martin

Think the number is stamped on the top cover of the carb on mine
There should be some parts in your bags of bits if you got a new bike to convert from cable choke to normal , well there was on mine but they had fitted it at the shop before i got there .
Did you get the bike of steve plain ?

Martin there was no number on your carb top as some suggest,
However when your carb was off i did measure the internal diametre of the body (the part that pushes into the inlet rubber) and it was 38mm.

However still not sure why your carb has 65 stamped onto the slide, when GG state it should come with a number 7

It would be interesting to know if this is the case with any other U.K carbs.

Do you know what Diggs carb came with,
Your bike does feel rich at the moment, but untill you get a couple of tanks of gas down its neck, it will be hard to tell untill you give it a good spanking,

So many helpfull people on here, sure you will have it sorted soon,

Now back to me 200/300 200/300 i dont freeking know, its doing my head in, LOL Nothing but good words on here about the 200, the 2014 will be out before i decide, dont foget im only 160lbs

160lbs, now your bragging:D , mine came with a 38 bolt on top carb , as2 i presume

Have you had the slide out of yours, if so did you note the slide number,

Strange how martins carb came with a 6.5,

Yours is the R non ES

Martins is the ES standard, Both 2012's

Can anybody give any input on this thanks.

Mine is a 300 race , with a 7 slide

I did get the manual choke and have now fitted it. Mine came from Gorden Farley.

Sounds like mine is also 38mm (thanks Jeff) and is also bolt top.

Going to get out on it tomorrow and get it and my knees run in!! (had a double knee surgery 8 weeks ago).

Then the fun can really start. I now have both the NEDJ and NEDW on back order so can play with it.

Thanks everyone for all your help :D I'm sure there will be plenty of other questions
