For those with an E start, I really don't wont to hear about it!! Anyway how do you start yours ? and what spark plug are you using? I have a 2013 ec300 and I do seem to be struggling, and no, I do not kick like a girl.

any help will be appreciated, cheers and thanks Ads.

Cold engine, use the choke 2 kicks and runs
Warm engine, 1 kick with a blip of the trottle runs

Bought the bike used as far as I know it has a stock spark plug and LTR jetting since it runs great I have not checked or touched the plug or jetting.

My first dirt bike was a 1997 KTM Lc4 620SC left side kick so the GG300 feals real easy to start.

Turn the gas on then choke, two pumps on the throttle and kick, usually starts first kick.

I have a NGK plug.

I have BR8EV in both my 2t's. Try tipping your bike ALL the way over till you see gas coming from the vent tubes. And a little choke, kick.
I've had no starting issues using this procedure.

NGK BR8ES plug.

It sat since May when I had my injury and started this week in 3 kicks. Fuel on, choke on, two quick "blips" of the throttle, find TDC and kick.

Kicking a 2 stroke

Probably jetting if not starting easy,my bet the bike is too rich, unless its been changed since new.

TDC? sorry don't know what you mean, it does sound like I need a re, jet, I have been running 60/1 has I have had so much oil coming out of the pipe, and I do seem to be using more fuel then my riding mates, I am finding the best way to start up is no choke or gas, but saying that we are having warm weather, if I sound a bit daft its because I am!

A twist of the throttle with engine not turning on a carb without accelerator pump seems useless. What good would it do? (Except verify that the throttle is indeed in working order before starting)

Oil coming out of the pipe is not because you are using too much, it is because the excess oil is not beeing combusted due to running rich/cold.

It doesn't open the carb and spray some fuel into it when you twist the throttle?

Not on the PWK. They don't use any squirt jet to add fuel like an accellerator pump. All it does is lift the slide. On a 4 stroke.. a whole different story.

Don't worry.. I still open and close the throttle before kicking just to make sure its not going to hang up and the action is smooth. ;)

Top Dead Center of the compression cycle. Lightly move the kick lever until resistance is highest. Allow kick lever to return to top of stroke, press until you mesh the gears (just until you feel it engage), then a swift kick. Just slapping at the kicker will damage the shaft dogs and not help starting. Another trick is to roll the bike backwards in gear (clutch lever out) until the bike stops rolling, that's TDC as well.

NGK BR8EIX (iridium) cold engine with choke on two twists of throttle, warm engine just kick and go. In races it starts always with gear on. Just kick and when foot goes down, throttle on and clutch off :)

I cringe when I see guys/gals doing that.

...two twists of throttle...

That's funny. :)

OP sounds way rich. I think you need to make sure your air filter is clean, your exhaust is flowing freely, and your carb. is set up properly.

I'm also a fan of the EIX plug.
Also, don't kick straight down or try and kick with the arc of the kickstarter. Rather, lean forward and kick in a straight line down and BACK.
