Barely with my fingernail towards the top of the cylinder. That doesn't look good, can you feel it?
I've been told the nicaseal is not thick enough to hone. That sucks. Something has been posted out the transfer and not quite made it so been scraped up wall.
So what was it is the difficult question .
I'd check ring ends and seriously flush the bottom end.
A more conservative approach would be strip, but I wouldn't.
Then get barrel assessment it can hone for big piston.
The dealership has it now and according to them it's still under warranty. So let's see if Gas Gas will make good. Now I'm not on my phone I see its exhaust not transfer. Not that it changes anything.
So it's either, debris from build. A bit of the ring or bearing cage. Or it got past the airfilter.
I mean the scrape won't bother it running, but it's like starting off with a ring on wear limit.
Probably I heard ktm has been outsourcing to china on some of their parts. Just got a phone call from the dealer. They said it is a faulty piston. The coating on the piston was coming off, which caused the marks on the cylinder. Still don't know if gas gas is going to pay for it.Chinese cylinder?
I'm not sure, but whatever it takes to get it covered. I've been told that KTM is hard to deal with on warranty work.I don't think the piston coating can cause scratches. It's just teflon. I may be wrong though.
