mill head Ec300

I have the engine in the Shop for New engine mounts, but would think this is a good time to do a check up and some tuning.

Wanting more power as this is a plated EC 300 SM, year 2007, i am looking for cutting the head.

Did search, also took a look in Jacobs S3 head thread, but could not find what i was looking for.

Max power at what bottom gaskets (0.3mm, 0.5mm, 1.3mm..), at what head height (standard, 0.5mm cut,1mm cut) and what head volume (standard is 24.5cc from old memory.) Also design. Complete dome or keep the head design as it

Would like power mid-top. 95-98 pump gas(40m Over sealevel)
Advice?

All work together and impact on eachother.

The base gaskets set your port timing and durtation. Generally speaking with these engines if you raise the cylinder to where the base of the exhaust port and edge of the piston meet at bottom dead center you'll be tuning for max rpm performance. Alternately, dropping the cylinder will favour a bottom end power curve but sign off up top. You won't know exactly how much is to be gained/lost unless if you want to work with a tuner, spec the entire engine, run some simulations, etc.

Minimal squish clearance is what we're trying to achieve mostly. It improves the burn and efficiency of the engine. You can go as tight as you want, but its not a bad idea to keep a safety margin. Piston to head contact isn't a great scenario. For a bike of this capacity, that runs to the revs they see anywhere between 1.2-1.3mm is a good figure. Some tuners will also match the angle of the band to the piston. Some won't. You could have a tuner fully redesign the head if you wanted to.

Compression ratio. Going high comp will give you good snap and response down low at the expense of being able to rev as far - it'll also require a higher octane fuel to deal with the increased heat... and vice versa.

So you can mix and match and put things together as you please. When I set my engine up I was looking at a good usable spread of power. Its not as hard to set an engine up for peak HP as it is to ride one in a short scope of revs that are pulling hard.
