Moving to the dark side.

Ok, you guys have convinced me. I'll have an 07 EC300 coming my direction in a few days.

We'll see if they really are better than KTMs. I still have an 04 400exc and an 07 200xc-w. I've only seen one Gas Gas enduro bike on the trails in my life.

You mean from the dark side.;)

Congrats, and anything you can't find here just ask.

Before you even start the bike, get your hands in there and make sure that quick change filter is seated!!

Welcome and good luck!

damn thats commitment!! i test rode a 250, 200 and 300, before I bought one!! I wouldn't say there are ton in my area but they are out there. local dealer went belly up not too long ago though. Pretty happy with my 06 300 so far, plan on hanging onto it for a few years more. Hope if puts many smiles on your face

Great choice, I will be very surprised if your disappointed once you set it up.

Have fun,

Roscoe

Congrats on the new scoot:D Same thing I'm lusting after.

Life is about taking chances and it's only a motorcycle after all. Of course a full setup and ride report will be needed.

What did you get it for if you don't mind me asking??

I called around and got prices ranging from $6200 to $7000. I found a dealer that offered one for $5750. This seemed pretty reasonable, especially seeing how much the 08's are. I was planning on picking up an 08 KTM 300xcw-e (electric start) but actually that seems pretty silly. Stick a Rekluse in and I'm good to go. I realize resale isn't as favourable to GG as KTM but I'll probably hang on to it for a while.

Unfortunately it's being shipped to me so it will be a bit before I can give you guys a report.

Welcome Ud_luz, Refering this post on TT
I knew you are in Kansas

Australia mades some good parts for them and will ship to your door....
I was just messing with you. :D

I looked at the links. Some nice stuff. The radiator guards are pretty slick.

Bill, do you ride trials? If you do there's no comparison between the orange hordes and Gasser. The Gasser pulls off the bottom end like a trials bike. The EC series are enduro bikes designed by a trials bike company for trials riders who ride off-road. As we've seen recently with the domination of enduros by trials riders this is clearly the way to go :)

Now, lets talk you into a Gasser pro.....

Hey Doz, Hyde are (used to be) South African.

Now, lets talk you into a Gasser pro.....
That would be silly wouldn't it? I'm usually riding my 315R when the Pros are back at the truck being fixed. :D

Just kidding. The Monty is the XR of trials bikes, absolutely bulletproof but you do pay the penalty in weight. Since I've never entered a trials event and use the bike more for practicing balance and goofing off around the house, the Monty is an excellent machine for this. I've ridden the Pro, amazingly light and a good handling machine. :)

I don't have a problem with Cota 315's. Excellent machine. The Model T of trials bikes (highest production number of all trials bikes). Just it's a little dated now. Pity they dropped the model instead of updating it.

Hi, Hope you will enjoy your new bike.

I also have a 315R that I am fooling around with sometimes. Had it for 5 years
now.
Drove some trials when I was a kid and picked up this 315R after a 20 years out of riding.

About a year ago I was at a local dealer to pick up some parts and there was
a EC250-01 looking sad in a corner.
Feelt pity for it and next saturday she was going home to my place.

My first ever enduro bike and had never been on any enduro or mx track at all.
Think this is a lovely bike..but in the other hand I have never rode any other bike to compare with.
Have now started to get more control over her she sometime's wanted me to hang in the bars on top of her in tight sections when becoming tired.

Saturday tomorrow = New adventures

Welcome to the GasGas way of life. It's great!

If you are in Kansas, it's not all that far for you to come join us at this year's Wudi Ride. It is in north central Arkansas on the weekend of Feb 23/24.
It cost nothing except a good attitude.

Here is a link to the web page set up for this year/s ride.

Since 2004 I have owned the following all were new..04 honda 250 x,04 ktm 200 exc,05 ktm 400 exc,05 gasgas ec 250,06 gasgas 250,07 ktm 300,08 ktm 250 xcw-e,08 GASGAS DE 300..I race enduros and cross country/hare scrams..in the mid atlantic states..i am now running SEN A CLASS..the gasgas is without a doubt the favorite bike i have raced..the new 08 models are way better than the older models..as far as fit/finish,sub frame now is a work of art, brakes are way better than a ktm.bike handles way better than a ktm,to me a gasgas is way more easy to work on and get to the engine than a ktm, tranny on a gasser is far better than a ktm..6 speed close ratio..no gaps..like my ktm..the only thing KTM HAS OVER A GASGAS is resale value..but now that I am back on a GASGAS maybe i wont have to purchase a new bike every year searching for the perfect woods weapon..I TRULY believe i have found it..2008 DE 300..12 OZ flywheel, flexx bars, hyde skid plate/pipeguard combo, pro suspension revalve, scotts steering damper..this is a true woods weapon..
