My first complaint about my gasser

How the hell are you supposed to adjust sag on a 2011 300. I thought I would check sag but have to take subframe off. The locking collars allen head is behind airbox and get to it. Also trying to get a punch in there is tough. Bike came from the factory team set up for 195 but I am 208 and wanted to make sure it was close. Miss the husky WR 300 when it comes to setting sag. Any suggestions?

That allen head "should" be on the right side of the bike where you can get to it. You should be able to turn the spring by hand once the allen is loose, no punch needed.

Correct it is on right side but the allen head is behind the reservoir. Cant get a allen head wrench in there to loosen it without taken subframe off. Small complaint, still love the Gasser!

I had the same problem on my 2011 EC 300E last night. After, swearing and kicking the cat(not really) I finally got mine loose. I had the bike on a stand but I could not turn the nylon ring by hand.

Once I got my 2011 allen screw loose, I pushed on the ring with a long screwdriver while twisting spring with my other hand (bike on stand). After a bit of this I was able to twist spring by hand; also sprayed a bit of silicone lube on threads

This.
Once the lock ring is loose, you can lever the preload ring with a long flat head screwdriver levered against the frame whilst turning the spring. You can get to a pretty good preload with this method, the punch tends to damage the turning surfaces of the rings. Or a really small lock ring spanner works too.

I thought preload was something you do to the shock when it's off for servicing and never touch again till the next service.
