New 08 GG250 DE?

I should be picking up my new 2008 GasGas 250DE pretty soon.

What things do I need to do to it right away?

An hour meter along with a few guards are manditory items for me. I'll also grease all the bearings since I know how 'well' the factory does.

I can't wait to ride the bike!:D

BTW, my current bike is an off road 06 YZ250f. The bike before that was an 04 GG200EC.

Thanks for any help.

That pretty well sums it up.

The LTR jetting kit is nice, I prefer the single taper needle.

I changed the stock rim locks for motion pro (two on the rear had to drill another hole in rim) and went ahead and put on a s-12 on the rear and moose heavy duty tubes front and rear. I like the moose skid plate and e-line pipe guard but a lot like the hyde-combo. Also my front spokes became very loose but not the rear. Have fun getting to know your new bike.

The first thing that I changed on my Gassers was the stock gearing. My '05 arrived with a 47 tooth rear sprocket. Surprisingly, both my bikes had a good amount of grease in the bearings strait from the factory. The rimlocks are crap, but I still have the stockers in use on my '05. I was never a fan of the stock chain guides because they wear too fast. So, I switched both bikes to the XR chain guide with the LTR adapter. That's it other than your typical armor and guards.

The stock rim locks are garbage. The front doesn't concern me as much as the rear though. I think I have a new motion pro for the rim already. 2.15 - might be too narrow.

I ordered the LTR jet kit when I called about the bike.

Eline skid + pipe guard too.

I'm not sure on which direction I'm going to go with hand guards. I had Cycra pro bends w/ triple clamp mount on my 250f. I bent the hell out of one mount and tweaked the other. Then came the ASV's w/ cycra MX guards.

Any ideas on hand guards?

Thanks for the replies

Oh yeah - I strongly dislike the stock chain guides. Can you use a TM Designs chain guide with the LTR adapter?

Talon rim locks are lighter, lower profile and better quality than the Motion Pro. The lower profile Talon is a big plus in that you will aviod pinch flats due to the high outside edges of the Motion Pro.

The Hyde combo guard offers much better pipe protection. I have wrapped the header pipe and smashed it up against the frame with an e-line CF pipe guard.

If you dislike the stock chain guide get the LTR guide - it is top notch.

I have used every skid plate out there for GasGas Go with the mecasystem you can get them @ Cycle Pro 775-738-3276 Pipe guards, Hand guards, TM chain guides with adapters and LTR jetting kit can be purchased from Go Fasters 320-839-7143 I have found Go Fasters the best for parts. I was running 2 motion pro rim locks in the rear for years. I got lazy on my last 2 bikes and hav'nt had a problem with only 1 rim lock and tire changes are easier.

Don't foget the FORCE radiator gaurds...money well spent. Enjoy your new ride:)

Are you sure FORCE makes guards for the 08 though?

Mark (GoFasters) said there is a company in, I think, France that makes the whole cages/guards for the 08's. He said they are pretty spendy though.

Here's the new bike.

.5 hours on the hour meter currently (break in). I'll try to run it up a few more tomorrow.

I switch from the Polisport hand guards to the Cycras because I felt the stock ones limited the adjustment of the clutch/brake levers. I can't ride with the levers pointing straight out. I'm sure it won't be too long before I switch to 'real' hand guards.

thank you

I don't mean to break your little heart but, the Jap. style chain guides do not work with the LTR Adapter. :( I went to swap the TM from the 250f to the 250T and it wasn't going to work. A new TM has been ordered from GoFasters though.
