Just what we all need, another 450F. The 450Fs best days are behind it. I really hope that someone with some business sense an GG realizes this. Like it or not, the Yamaha motor makes sense, solid bike with minimal investment. Its a lot more advanced than the GG FSR motor, and the FSR worked pretty well for what it was. To hell with new 4stroke development, put the resources into the DI 2stroke engines and be one of the first with a true cutting edge design. It doesn't really matter what you or I like as individuals, collectively the big 4strokes aren't making it in sales lately from what I see here. Is it different in Europe?
4ST sales in Europe also went down as opposite to 2ST. I think it's the reflection of the lower maintenance costs and also the extreme enduro races as the newest trend . I think the only reason why GG needs a thumper is to really be competitive in WEC. They cannot afford to be dependent on Yamaha or any other brand. The only way for a smoker to beat them is to take advantage of a misfortune of the 4ST. Nambotim is doing a great job but we all know Knight's criticisms towards its 500.
I also think GG should be the leading company on the 2ST development, the investments in this technology is much cheaper than the cost of building a 4St especially because it already exists, just needs to be molded for this specific need.
Take a look at KTM, they developed a 350 engine that so far is only competitive on the hands of an Italian genius but I seriously doubt this will have a great impact in sales. To capitalize all the development they have planted it on the enduro models, freeride, duke and possibly they will even make an Adventure 350 . I don't think GG will sell as many as KTM...
Husaberg used to be "4 Stroke Power" , I see GG as "2 STROKE Power"
