Well I am official now. I have been spending alot of time on this forum reading and learning what I could and today I purchased a 2012 GasGas 300 electric start.
What a nice looking bike! I was torn beside GG and KTM, but went with GG.
I plan to ride tomorrow and start breaking it in. Sure excited.
I had a few questions that the dealer was unable to help with and e-mailed Clay from GG org website. He CALLED back and answered all my questions. ON a Saturday Nite!!!! That is customer service. Really nice man and very helpful. Thanks Clay.
Well, a follow up after a few hours on bike.
:D

Ed,
It was a pleasure to speak to you! Thanks for the kind words and thanks for buying a Gas Gas!

I recently bought a 2011 300 E-start from the House of Horsepower in OKC expecting it to "share the load" with my 08 KTM 300. After riding the GG and setting it up for my riding style, I now use the GG as my primary and the KTM as a backup. I've had KTM's for years and it will take some time (and maintenance) before I know as much about the GG as I do the KTM.

OK. What a ride today! I am coming off 4 stroke and having to get use to 2 stroke. This is going to be a very fun bike.
I had a little bog off idle and need to raise needle up a notch like was suggested.
Adjusted forks per Clays suggestions which seemed to do well.
Almost ran off trail several times, smiling along the way.
I have been researching bike for a while and it was between KTM/GasGas.
Sure glad I choose the Gasgas!!!
Pretty, Powerful yet Controllable, Somewhat different in this area, Plus everything KTM has to offer!!!
So I need more seat time to really to get to know her better, but that is part of the fun.
OK for Proof, well I have to figure out how to post pics. There will be proof!!

Ed,
Before you go to the trouble of changing the needle try opening up the air screw one turn to see if that cures the problem.

As a newcomer to the brand myself, I can tell you that you will like the bike more and more each ride. That's been my experience for sure!!!

You are coming off a 4st to a smoker so I'd say you had a bigger jump to make than I did. I went from an orange 300 to a GG 300 and I'm lovin it!

I'm on a KTM 250XCF (280 sxs kit) and im looking at getting a GG 300. How hard was it going back to the 2t. I have been on a 4t for about 3 years now.

I recently went from Husaberg FE390 to GG300.

All my concerns about going
2T were proven to be a non issue in the first 10 minutes.

Not enough torque = wrong
Im too mathmatically incompetant to mix fuel = wrong
Power will be uncontrollable for woods = wrong
Ill lose all tracability = wrong

Absolutely zero regrets, Im enjoying riding more than ever.

Last year I sent a tongue-in-cheek email to our dealers that said that Gas Gas builds the best four stroke and it is our 300 two stroke. I also made the switch from a Husaberg FX450 to a GG 300 with no problems.

I too recently started riding a 2011 300 Nambotin and came off a KTM 450 XC, I rode the KTM for 5 years and after riding the Gas Gas for a couple hours I had no problems feeling comfortable on it right away!! A few things were very apparent right away, it was all handling, I found that when riding on single track and zig zagging through tight trees and over roots and logs the 300 dances around like a dream! And cornering is like nothing I have rode before, I can enter a tight corner much faster and I can rail berms so much faster. My buddy was following me on his 2012 KTM 300 XCW and said he saw me do a tight turn up and over some obstacles and tried to do it at that speed and ended up having a bit of a dirt nap where I flew through it. I love this bike and it will only get better!!

Cheers.

The more I read the more I drop the price on my bike. Only problem I see is parts, I live 45 minutes (if that) from Clay and the Gas Gas headquaters here in Ga but the closest dealer is about 3-4 hours away:confused:

My nearest dealer is 2 hours away, but it generally doesn't take long to have something shipped. Even when I was on KTM nearly everything that I bought was ordered and shipped.
