New GasGas 300 Owner

How do you post pictures? I thought I knew how, but something doesn't seem to be working.

I'm the same. Over an hour to the dealer who doesn't really stock anything. A quick call ahead of time and he'll have them in 2 days ready for pickup. I generally work on having spares at home so if I'm ordering one, I might as well order two. Then when tragedy strikes I have the best chance at getting up and running again in the shortest possible time.

To be honest its not all that different with the local ktm shop either where most parts need to be ordered too.

The more I read the more I drop the price on my bike. Only problem I see is parts, I live 45 minutes (if that) from Clay and the Gas Gas headquaters here in Ga but the closest dealer is about 3-4 hours away:confused:

We're working on a dealer in the Atlanta area but it won't be any time soon. Gerald at Upstate in Greenville, SC can get you parts and so can Appalachian in WV.

Does the brown truck stop in front of your house? Got a mail box? We can hook you up ;)

I have already had guards/braces form different places sent to my in less than a week. Parts availability is a non issue.
Back to handling, this bike is going to more fun to ride. Its lighter and controllable power and power when you need it. I like the zip this bike has over my 4 stroke.
I really don't care to ride much faster (but alittle faster would be good), rather I just want to have fun getting from point A to point B!

Well just got my suspension back from Les. I had him lower it a bit due to my short legs..
Put everything back together and the motor ran terrible. It would not idle. I played with air screw/idle screw with no luck. I dropped the needle a notch which helped slightly. Not sure which direction to go, I am a novice with the jetting stuff.
It bogs at the bottom, gets alittle better mid range, then cuts out again from 3/4 to wot.
It would at least idle before and had bog mostly bottom. I just thought I do need to check ckoke tto make sure it isn't stuck.
I wouldn't of thought jetting to be off this much. It is probably about 10 degrees hotter now than it was about 3 weeks ago.
Any suggestions.
Also, do I open up the vent hose that comes out of the front of the engine. It came zip tied off.
I'll play with it more and give update. I plan to take it out tomorrow. Just thought I would see what advise I could get befoe I went out.
Thanks

Ed,
Yes the vent tube is supposed to be open. Clip the hose and you will prolly find you had a ton of spooge in the pv cover. It should run better after the pv is drained.
Clay

Yep. Just cleaned it and it idled better. I'll see how it goes tomorrow. Thanks Clay. I'm still impressed how quick you respond.

I wasn't on the site very much this past week due to the travels in Europe but I still got an email from Verizon that said I had racked up $1000 in roaming charges while in Europe. That's gonna be a fun phone call to Verizon tomorrow to straighten that out. Most of the time I spend a lot of time on this site and on email. I appreacite the business you guys give us and want to help any way I can.
Sorry the bike wasn't set up properly.

No Clay, I think the bike was set up fine. I think most all bikes have to be "tinkered with" to get set up properly depending on climate/altitude/etc.

Bike did better today. Handled great. Starter would not engage occasionally.

Jetting will need attention. Bog on bottom, smoother mid range, decreased power from 3/4 throttle to WOT. Lots of spooge from exhaust. (running rich) I had to put bike on reserve within a hour, while my son's bike still had half tank, which I would expect him to use less (KTM200xcw, I know, I know it's orange:().

Just wondering, for a novice jetter such as me, should I buy several different jets/needles and play with it or just get the JD Jetting kit to take most of the guess work out and be done with it.

Have a look in the jetting section. Quite some positive feedback from people. Good success with OEM suzuki and yamaha needles, and JD needles too. $12 for OEM, or $70 for the Jd. Depends what its worth to you.

Yea Jakobi, I just finished looking over on jetting.
I see that you are the Jetting Guru here on this site.
I have seen you have recommended for a couple people:
NEDJ or NECJ needles might get one of each
40/42 Pilot
172/175/178 main
I would spend the money for JD if it would be better, but not sure that it is.
I think I will start something from this list, report outcome then fine tune accordingly.
Thanks for Advice

PS NEDJ and NECJ are the same with only a half clip position difference. The C being half a clip leaner. Probably go with one and then buy the other if you feel the need to fine tune. The N3EJ/N3CJ are the same principle with different tapers. More of an aggressive setup.
