no variation in rebound (Shiver 45)

Rebound piston ring ha there like rocking horse poo.

Gas Gas uk wont order untill end of six day trial then poss couple weeks.
Gas Gas Germany wont post to uk.
Dr shox has none in stock.
K tek has none in stock
Go fasters have none

Still got the same problem with mine.:(

race tech wouldnt have them would they? just throwin the thought out there, i know i can get some parts for my WP's there. or perhaps Les at lt racing? or maybe husky dealers? i know some husky's use shiver 45s (Ex. 06 te 450)
 
Your getting there, but over damped in the comp stack and still running that three stage goofy setup with too much HS. Try a shim shuffle with what you have to make a more progressive 2 stage stack that should be closer.

I have also many different shims to play.
I don't need to shuffle. May be you have a better commendation.

With overdamped you think about the 3x 22x0.1 for the LS or the many HS shims.
Can you explain why GG/Marz makes 3 stages. Or what is the advantage/ disadvantage for this 3 stage goofy setup.May be the forks sinks to much in the stroke?

Now, for that MV you can try and add an 18 x .1 under the 22 x .15 and adjust the float to around 1.4 -1.5 mm with 15mm shims.

I've heard from some guys the piston rings wore fast but mine have been fine for years. If they are bad, try and find a fork with the same dia. piston and use that ring.

I ordered some new ones.

Also, make sure your springs are stiff enough and run only a couple mms of preload.
What is stiff enough for my 85kg without gear.I have 5mm preload.
Now I have 4.5 N/mm not tested or measured only see the specs like diameter s.o. I also have some 5N/mm. And looking for 4.8N/mm.
My fork is outstanding, has a firm but not abusive feel and NO deflection.

I've got .45nm springs and I'm 95kg in full gear. Mine are fine, but I don't do any MX. I have some .48nm springs if you need them, but they were to heavy for me.

The comp stack GMP has posted is very similar to what I'm running at the moment. I also run very little preload, about 2mm.

I have a question to the total valve stack thickness

The orginal BV stack has 1,75mm your recommendation only 0,95mm.

What influence this parameter?
 
If you have more shims add a couple 11 x .2s or 12x .2s as a clamp (last shims) and to gain a little thickness. Thickness can vary quite a bit, as long as the last HS shim can bend around the clamp(s) some.

I still wait for this f... piston rings.
But I think the rebound becomes a little bit better or to much may be.

Last weekend we had a rocky 3h race over many little loose stones.
The forks feels not very smooth in this stone fields more harsh.
But I can't test it before and ride BV and Rebound screw in the middle.
The original stack feels much more comfortable on this track.
My be I have to slowly getting used to the stiffer fork?

I heard that stiffer springs on the one hand not so comfortable in the low speed (not suspension - drive) area
but on the other hand if I get faster they helps me to go faster with more feeling.
What is the reason? Higher in the stroke?

Last week I disassamble a KTM EXC 250 stock 2006 WP48 fork and compare it to a tuned WP48.
My friend criticize also a harsh feeling in stone fields, before tuning.
The most importend change was on the face of the BV piston this extra 2 shims.

And after this little change my friend feels much more comfortable one rocks and stones.

My be I go to this BV stack for better "stone" feeling with also a strong LS damping.

In mid/high speed range over large bumps the fork feels very safe.
No bar shimming, and high in the stroke.
Over rocks/stones not soft but comfortable.
May be I need a little bit more stiffer MV for more low speed damping.

I decrease the float to 1mm
The LS damping is still to soft may be decrease float a little bit more ???

you have to know that the SAE weight system has a very broad and vague viscosity range and does not even cover the viscosity range that most quality motorcycle suspension systems require.

yes I use finally a 7,5 but this is a mix 1:1 Motul Expert
SAE 5 and SAE 10
this viscosity is near the Marzocchi fork oil of 26,1 cSt@40C

I thinks this setup don't work for you 2004 Shiver 45 forks.
I believe you have different pistons and no mid valve only a check plate.
A have a 2006 Shiver 45.

A good dealer in Greece can sell you this shims.
I can also offer you this shims. 1,80€ per shim is fair I think + P&P

when I land after a large jump in the flat or in deep sand bumps
the forks feels to stiff at the end of the level
what can I do?
the fork use the full level (I use cable tie)
 
Are they bottoming out? Mine does it on MX tracks. I live with it because I like the way it works in the woods. Maybe decrease the check valve float??

I don't think so. I can jump very far no bottoming.
When I jump and land first with the rear wheel and the hard with the front wheel it feels very harsh.
Maybe decrease the check valve float??

I believe the the LS damping will be to soft after this for me - at the moment I would prefere some more LS
