Oh! Oh!!

The 250s feel slightly lighter and more agile simply because they have less yank off the bottom. You can always make your 300 a 250 if you can't swing a new bike. I'll bet you could even work a parts trade here just like we do with ignitions.

hmm thats an angle I hadn't thought of ....

however I'm starting to do some real number crunching ...

The gasser and ktm both have the same wheelbase
The ktm has a 63 degree headtube angle, what is it on the gasser??
the gasser has a 62.5mm X 65 mm bore & stroke
The ktm is 64mm X 60 mm Bore & stroke
someone want to explain what effect these different bore and stroke numbers mean as far as engine performance goes??
Gasser is nice and thin down at your feet. ktm was noticeably wider at the pegs but felt nice and small otherwise
KTM has a bigger gas tank
They both have the same posted weight 209 lbs. The ktm was very light .. I have a hard time believeing the gasser is actually 209lbs. Not a weight weenie but am curious if any knows hte weight of an 09 gasser 200
Gasser seat is almost an inch lower than the ktm!! 37" v 38"

well I rode an 06 KTMsx 125 with a flywheel weight and 18" wheel today in freetown which is all rocks and roots,Ive decided to back to a smaller bike, very fun,you do have to be aggressive with it,but I could lug it in a gear higher and still wick the throttle if I needed to,it was very light as well, you could really flick it around, looking to get a gasser 125 or 200 in my near future, plenty of bike for me and hope it wont tire me out at the end of the race

Sounds like my MC250, really.;)

I often dream of a 125 as a race bike at my skill level. I am just way over weight at 250lbs. I love them on the track because they are so easy to hang on to. Just need a 139 kit in them for me and i am all set.

...until there's a ridiculous hill immediately out of a corner. That's my only reason for switching to the 250 over a 200. The extra low end jam comes in handy sometimes.

I will admit being over weight the EC250 really comes in handy. Thinking about it a EC300 must be for those greedy people, or lazy riders (Just Kiding).

My local riding is nothing but ridiculous hills out of corners, and Hancock, NY takes it to another level. The kid (nephew) will spank most of us (Bs and Cs) with his GG125, and did great in Hancock last month. You just have to ride it different. Now in your case being a young fast guy riding with guys of the same ability on faster bikes, I can see that being a disadvantage. For skid, and guys like him (and many of us), it could be an advantage.

I really hope the GG 250F is a good bike and not a grenade when it comes out, with minimal teething problems. I really like the GG chassis and 250F power, and would likely buy one in its second year.

Skid,

If you don't have a G2 throttle on that 300 you should try one with the #400 cam. It will really take the edge off. I even put one on my Hypermotard, which has viscious off idle torque that makes it tiring in traffic sometimes, and its MUCH smoother.

I think the 300 has made me a lazy rider,I have the G2 with the 400 cam and its pretty tame with 49T rear,no surprises on the trails/rocks/or even hills I know where the bike is going and know what its going to do,I do find myself sitting down quite a bit,and I pay for that at the end of a race when everything is cramped from sticking my legs out like paddles,I dont remember sitting down when I had my gasser 125,yeah I did get stuck on one hill out of a corner and swore right then and there never a 125 again!!! but it wasnt my fault, they guy in front of me slowed down a bit and ruined any chance I had of keeping up my speed

No Orange for now....

I picked up an 02 husky wr 125 for $1700 to satisfy my small bore yearning for the time being. I figured that was ceap enough that if I don't dig it I won't take the hit you take on unloading a new bike that doesn't work out. Because of the weather .. I haven't had any real ride time on it yet .. might be spring before I can really give it a go. maybe we'll luck into a low snow year and I can put some screws in the tires!!
