Piston ?

Do a replate and while your at it split the cases and have the crank rebuilt. I know my bike could use the full treatment. of course what ihave done is put a new piston in once a year and call it good.

If your going to keep the bike, throw the piston in for the rest of the season and during the winter do the whole motor. Being its apart now, and you want to ride/race soon, you don't have much of a choice. If its a bit loose it won't be so bad considering the piston will be new and not fatigued plus the season is getting short, I just wouldn't leave it like that. Thats why I do a top and go through the bike completely every winter so I can hammer it all season without worry.

I've got one more glimmer of hope for a proper piston. If that doesn't pan out today or tomorrow I'll still have time to get the bore done before the next event.
Good to know that I could run the A if I had to. Thanks.

Brian,
,,,in the box should be fitment table with the clearances. I think I have one at home, I'll look tonight.
There was nothing in the box. I'm starting to think it's a Wossner ? It's not fully coated, just the front and back below the rings.
If I get the bore plated what clearance should I tell them ? .06 (71.99 for a 71.93 piston) ?

brian I have my 06 stock piston, not sure what size it is,but it has little wear and would be ok to use for the season if you couldnt find a new one nad didnt want to ruin the new one,why dont you put your old one back in for now???

Thanks for the offer and advice but I've got the thing apart and I'm going out of town for a week so I may as well do it right if possible. If I can't work it out tomorrow I'll have to resign myself to throwing the old one back in there for the rest of the season. That'll be my excuse for not keeping up with you. :D

Brian,

I found the Vertex data sheet and the clearance is specified from .06 - .07 mm for a 300. The Wossner is cast as well so I would expect that to work fine.
