Rekluse or estart, same price roughly, what would you buy?

Estart, didn't like the rekluse, people talk about the ease of the kick but that's not the point to me when your stuck on a gnarly hill climb or on a side hill etc. that's why I added one

The rekluse opened up a whole new choice of options like the LHRB. But the estrart can be as equally valuable. Just depends on your needs?

I agree with that, I've heard a lot of people loving the rekluse but everyone I ride with felt the same as me, didn't care for it but I've yet to ride with anyone that currently has estart that would give it up

Few times rolling down steep off camber hills and stalling its been a pain having to jump onthe high side and perform the left legged kick technique. Times like that remind me of the benefits of the button. In saying that bendix and battery maintenance is something I don't need. Only tried the auto crutch once, and wasn't overly wowed. Felt more like I was competing with it than letting it do the work for me which was probably the problem. I ride for the experience and to hone the skills so letting the recluse do all the clutching takes away the fun, even if it does do it better.

Neither, unless you are planning on loaning your bike to your girlfriend.

Nice.

To the OP, have you had the suspension tuned up for you yet? If not, that is where my money would go first.

Does the E start even work consistently enough to consider adding on to an existing bike? I admit I haven't paid much attention since I have a kicker.

100% agree if you haven't done suspension work that is number one, these two items would come a lot later on my list but that's just me

Hmm, I feel like I've been talked out of both, I had a great suspension setup on my 11 and about to start the suspension saga on my 13 as I've got 25 hrs on it and like it but it could be better.

Pm read, btw

Love my Rekluse, best mod I've ever added to a bike, it never stalls, and it's like cheating.. Clutch is still there, if you need to use it and at times I do, still.. the addition of the Rekluse is like cheating.. I've put on LHRB as well, and the jury is still out in that.. My 2 cents..

Ed..

letting the recluse do all the clutching takes away the fun, even if it does do it better.
For Jakobi clutching takes away all the fun but for some of us with wrist problems not clutching brings back the fun. I have e-start and Rekluse and wrist problems - The auto clutch is by far the best mod I have ever made to my bike. I will add one to any dirt bike I get in the furure. E-start is a different story. I have not replaced the battery in my e-start 250 since it went bad over a year ago and the only time I've missed e-start is when I suffered an injury to my kicking leg.
Don't get me wrong e-start is great when you're stalled on a hill but that almost never happens to me since I installed the Rekulse. First of all I make a lot more of the climbs, second if I don't make it the motor usually keeps running even if the bike is down. Restarting the bike on a hill happens very rarely and much, much less than it did without the auto clutch.
You often hear that an auto clutch is dangerous on a hill because it can disengage and the bike roll backwards. Not so - you quickly learn to keep a little throttle applied to keep the clutch engaged. A left hand brake would help in those situations but even more so on a bike with a manual clutch - let me explain. Almost every single time I have found myself going backwards down a hill is after losing momentum, coming to a stop where there is inadequate traction for the front brake to hold the bike in place while the bike is restarted.
Obviously we're all different and our needs are therefor different so I appreciate all those who come on this forum and report how different things have helped them meet their needs.

+1 on what gasser said.
I have both and would give up my e-start before the auto-clutch.
I ride a bunch of nasty trials like single track, the A/C turns a brutal day into an enjoyable day.
If I done more open fast stuff then I would have no interest in the auto-clutch.

Great post gasser. ;) Indeed everyones needs and requirements are different. Also very valid re the rolling backwards down hill. Any decent hill the front brake isn't worth its weight and laying the bike over against the high side of the hill is the safest method. When this happens though, its usually the clutch which is used to lock/unlock the rear wheel when manipulating the bike back into position before throwing a leg over and heading back down for another crack. The left hand rear brake would have a great advantage here, not to mention how much more natural it would feel for the declines not having to roll the right hip forwrd to dab the brake pedal.
