Removing '05 airbox cover

I feel like a complete dolt to have to ask this, but I can't figure it out, and it's not covered in the manual.

How the heck do you remove this cover? And yes, I can see that it says "PUSH". However, pushing seems to accomplish nothing save for making my thumb sore.

I think the "Push" sticker is just there to mess with your mind, kind of like the stick-on shattered window / golf ball dealies you see on yuppie cars. If anything, the sticker should say "Pull".

Take the seat off, remove the screw just to the right of your sticker, and look for a Phillips head screw at the rear of the cover behind the number plate.

Wow, that's quite the joke on me. Must have been a Spanish to English thing.

But thank you. I was feeling quite the idiot for not knowing at all how to get to my air filter to clean it.

There is a DZUS fastener next to the push sticker, undo it and the cover pivots out of the way.

Looks like the dzus faster was replaced with a plastic push pin.

The "hot" set-up is to use a J-nut and a regular bolt.

Having looked at some dzus fasteners online, I'm pretty sure this is not one. I realize that my picture, it looks like it has a slot like a screw. It does not have a slot.

I'm going to have to pull the seat off, I think, as I can't manipulate this fastener at all. It just doesn't seem to function in any way that would allow a user to release it from the outside.

Keep in mind, this is essentially a new bike, and whatever fastener is there is almost certainly a stock GG part.

After close inspection of your pic it looks like a plastic push pin like honda uses on the fenders of their quads. Pry the innermost part out with a screwdriver and then you can pull the whole fastener. Its not the stock part.

that is for sure what it looks like to me.

OP...get a small flat head screw driver and gently pry the middle part out
