Safari Tank fitted to an 08 EC300

Bought through 'justgastanks', some notes on the install.

- Forward mounting tab fits where gas tank vent line fitting is. Had to oblong the hole twoards the rear about 3 mm, so tank strap location would line up.

- Had to use the bikes gas tank seat tab with Safari supplied screw. Had to grind 4 mm off one edge so the seat would be far enough forward for the seat screw to line up.

The Tank is supposed to hold 3.6 gallons. Beacuse the same mold is used for the 4 strokes and 2 strokes the area above the carb where the fuel valve is, is open and wasted space on the two strokes. Another 4/10 ths of a gallon could have easily fit there. The price difference between the Clarke 3.2 and this tank makes me feel a little cheated on that account.

The tank is expertly made with brass well nuts cast in and the right red color. It came with cap. fuel valve with on/off/reserve and new fuel line.

I have an 08 also and considered a larger tank as fuel range can be an issue. Is it possible to fit the tank with an under bar steering dampner fitted. The spigot that fits around the steering head looks like it would foul on the neck of the tank.

hope this helps

I have the 3.2 gal Clarke on my '05 with a Scotts above-bar mount.

I surely wish I could get a reasonably priced 4 gallon tank for middle-distance cruel sport rides on a geared-up 300.
