If you use the quick search function could it search only the forum you are in please.

It can but you need to select the "Advanced Search". Then select what section you want to search.

Go the forum you want to search in - you will see a global search in the topmost menu bar (in red). Off to the right in the menu bar directly above the forum listing - you will see "search forum".

In addition, when you have a thread open - you will see the option to "search thread".

Actually, there are two search features. The search at the top of the forum (main index) is a generic search. Like mentioned, you can add advanced searches.

The other search is local to the sub-forum that you are in. For example, click on the two-stroke engine sub-forum. Then, you will see a "search this forum" in the sub-forum header.
