seat cover and staples

When replacing a seat cover, has anyone had success using one of the Arrow type electric staple guns. I have a basic T-50 non-electric hand unit, but I can’t seem to get a good enough drive to sink the 6mm staples. I don’t have a compressor, so the pneumatic gun is not an option. I’ve got two seat to covers to install, one on the GasGas and one on my sons EXC.

Sorry, but I haven't had alot of luck with a standard staple gun. Maybe someone else can chime in with some hints to make it work.

The hot setup is a small senco upholstery gun (yes, sorry, pneumatic). I don't have one yet, but like to have every tool known to man in my garage, even if I never use it...

You might want to call around to a couple of upholstery shops to see how much they would charge. To me, it is worth it for the quality, time, effort, etc.

I've done repairs with a manual stapler without any issues, but never a full seat. You can try warming the seat base and see if that helps. Warming the cover helps too so you can give it a good stretch.

As Jeff has suggested, an upholstery shop may be the way to go. I have heard they may do each for $10-$15 US.

Thanks for the input. I checked out the compressors, but that’s out of my budget. So I got the T-50 electric stapler and it works well with the 6mm staples and my15 year old helping hold the cover and seat. Holding the gun steady and putting a lot of weight on it is key, but we even got good attachment at overlap or cover fold points. I only stapled the nose and tail, but it was clean.

I have used the electric Arrow gun and it worked fine for me.

When I installed my tall seat foam and cover, I took it to a local upholstery shop and got it done for about $20. Well worth the money in my mind since it is one of the things that's seldom done. Also, if the seat cover puckers/loosens during the first ride, a good upholstery shop will stand behind their work and restretch it for you.

I have always used a manual Swingline Staple gun on all of my seats, probably done a dozen seats over the last 10 years and I have never had any problems. You just got to use a lot of staples and press down hard.
