Sidi Crossfire - Side panel wear

Has anyone else experienced their sidi crossfire srs boots peeling the plastics back off the side panels? Any suggested fixes other than taping either the boots or the leading edge of the sicker?

I have had a pair for about eight months. One of the other members said that they scratched his frame and rad covers. I haven't had that problem but they do scratch up my airbox decals a bit. This weekend I'm going to look it over and see if I can come up with a solution.

Besides the airbox scratches, these are the best boots that I have ever owned, I wouldn't buy anything else.:D

I have not had a problem with scratches on the sides panels or air box but have a rekluse clutch cover and have wore holes in that cover with my crossfire boots

Yeah when I said side panels I meant the sides for the airbox. Definitely the boots catching on the decals. Last pair of boots were the Sidi chargers and are still in good condition after 3 years however could use a resole so I moved to the SRS. One ride and I've substantially damaged the decals. There is a join on the boot plastics right at that part which just hooks up when squeezing. Might just run a strip of tape down the boot. Racing stripes!

Overall very happy with boots. Toe box was a bit tight on the pinky initially but broke in during the day and only had a few issues in feeling/missing the rear brake.

Same thing for me, tearing the plastic off the frame behind the airbox on the 2013. Switched to over the boot pants. First pair of Crossfires I've owned, now I'm ruined, won't be able to wear anything else.

Any chance of modifying the plastic bolt on guards on the boots? I'm looking for a new pair and have heard nothing but love for the way the Sidis feel, and nothing but loathing for what they do to the sides and sidecovers of bikes.

They are a very nice wearing boot indeed. Somehow I'm thinking that the over the boot pants will be the easiest solution, but seeing as I've just bought a new pair of pants I don't think I'll do that for a bit so open to suggestions.

Here are the storm trooper white boots. You can see the edge where its catching. Not sure if its the first join on the white plastics or the black grip pad thats doing the damage. The smear marks are after 1 ride where its been pulling at the sticker.

I'm finding my sidi srs boots are snagging on my plastics , one of the hinges keeps popping open too , I also made the mistake of buying a white boot so now they look tired in such a short time , I'll be looking for another boot next year

I am like steve on this ... disapointed! I had the Gaerne SG10's and they were awesome except that they had the horrible habit of getting hooked on the foot pegs, so i replaced them with the SG12's and while they very rarely hook up they are not as comfortable around the ankle as the SG10's and the soles do not last great, so thought i would go for Sidis next now i just need to spend my money elsewhere and loose some weight on my ankles!

I felt exactly the opposite, the soles didn't last on the sidis at did not seem as high build quality as the gaerne. I too had the sg10 and find my sg12 is a much more comfortable boot with the new double pivot in the back and the gel soles. Sg12 is a much better boot in my opinion

I have had 2 pairs of Gaerne's a Fastback and an SG10 and they are nice boots but they both tore skin off the tops/front of my ankles! I still have scars from them! I have used the TCX Pro 2.0 the last 2 years and they are a great boot and no skin missing! I recently bought some Sidi Crossfires because I got them at great price! I haven't tried them out yet so now opinion yet. Jackobi I always wear over the boot pants, it helps keep the boots last longer IMO.

SG12 all the way. Never found any other boot in which I would feel more comfortable and more protected. Before getting the SG12 I also tried the Crossfire's but too tight for my feet. Great boot though .

Just an update. My Sidi's are destroying my airbox and sidepanel(not the radiator shrouds) graphics. I have tried taping over the airbox/sidepanel joint but the boots just tear through the tape. Anyone have an idea how to fix this problem?:confused::confused:

I found the solution! I bought a 2013 model! The crossfires don't rub the stickers off the airbox sides. Hahah!! They have shredded the decals on my 2010 in 3 rides more than the Sidi Chargers did over the other 9000kms. No solution yet. Makes me not want to put the new 2011 plastics on it though as they'll be trashed in a ride.

2013....ok...LOL! I'm going to save my money for a 2015 or a left over 2014. I'll keep looking for a solution on my 2011.

Let me know when you find it. I was thinking either some clear coat that wraps right around the airbox, or even some tape on the boots.

Let me know if you have a better idea
