So would you put your kid on a 300?

I've owned 2 KTM 200exc's and although they are a hoot to throw around in the woods, their power delivery is not as easy to control as a 300 IMO.

The 300 will tractor and lug all day better than a 125/200. Yes, there may be times when a slip of the throttle could result in a punch, but that would happen on a 125/200/250 as well.

I just think the 300 has the best of both worlds in that it will tractor and lug like a thumper, but has the light weight of a 2-stroke. "3-stroke" rings true in many ways.

Being 17 and going threw 5 or 6 bikes starting off with a 79 Yamaha IT175 I dont recomend anything other than a 125. Just for the fect a 125 makes you work and become a much better ridder. It teaches you ridding abilities you never pick up on with a larger bike. It can keep up with anyother bike and there fun. Maybe assuming he can ride the crap out of his 100 he might not be too bad off.

I myself might DS my EC250 and pick up a husky CR125 just so I can start ridding competetive.
