What did you do to your Gas Gas today?

Hello all! I'm a first time Gas Gas owner but not a first time GG rider. I purchased a used '12 300 XC from Bandit9 and I am totally digging it. Ok here's what I've done it so far. I have jetted the carb by switching to a N3CJ needle and a 178 main jet. Much better I must say. Tons of usable power. Also I reinstalled the wire harness to run my headlight to start my practice for the upcoming Perry Mountain 24 Hour Challenge. Bandit9 removed the harness previously. That's about it, I would really like to some how install a quick realese seat on this bike. Something like a KTM comes with would be excellent. GoFasters has a kit for some Gassers but I haven't seen a kit for the 12's yet. Are am I wrong? I'm tired of creepin' on this forum and ready to to learn and participate!! Thanks guys and gals!

I originally did a different mod prior to updating my subframe.

But here is the link to what I believe is the best way to do it using a Dzus Fastener.

Hey man, Welcome to the site. You must be a beast rider bc I wasn't looking for more power out of that bike!!

I've been busy twisting wrenches on my '11 EC250 since December. So far I've sent the head and carb off to R-B Designs, added Flexx bars with Renthal kevlar grips and Cycra bark busters. Replaced the rear wheel bearings/seals and added Checkpoint wheel spacers. I ditched the inner tube in the rear and added a Tubliss system. And I just finished adding a Rekluse 3.0 EXP core.

I also made a set of 3/4" handle bar spacers and a plate to space my brake pedal out 3/8". The brake just felt awkward to me after adding the Rekluse clutch cover.

Nice! You have good taste in bikes. :)

I washed mine today. It is getting very tired it needs;

new pipe
new piston
new plastic
new brakes and rotors
suspension service front and rear
swingarm bearings
footpeg mounts rewelded
gouge in swingarm repaired
carb float bowl is trashed from chain rub
clutch slave is also trashed from chain rub
new levers
new shifter
flex bars rebuilt
and a bunch of little stuff.

At some point I am going to have to replace it

I wouldn't say that but thanks Chris! :) I also removed the G2 throttle and 400 cam and installed the stock one for better engine response. Thanks every one for your responses and the warm welcome!

Light bulbs go bad quick. Mine failed during my last WV trip, noticed it half way through. Still has power, but the element broke. I'm waiting to see if I want to invest in the LED another forum member built.

Ninja edit: Where is the rod on your Lectron? My bike wouldn't start with the basic setting, so I can't tune it. If you can drop me a PM with your basic setting as a baseline I'd appreciate it.

PSCOOK -- I responded to your question in the Lectron discussion.

Full Cervantes replica plastic kit arrived today. Looks awesome but needs some tweaking before install - will get rid of these #25 stickers and replace these with a solid red background (#25 is not available in these 3 series we plan to participate). Will replace the black front light/numberplate plastic with a white one.

Post pics when you get it finished. Should look killer.

Thanks - I hope so. I really think that there is nothing wrong with dirt bike being good-looking :). While dirt is a natural habitat for our bikes and crashing is just a part of the normal riding process I really hate bent radiators, dented frame tubes, rusted bolts.... you know what I mean. I like my bike tidy, clean and well-maintained.

I know exactly what you mean. One little spot of rust will drive me insane.

Items I worked on over the last 2 days and finally done except for installing the AXP skid plate & re-check my rear sag and check my clickers on the suspension.

-Installed the old “Jeff Melik” front fender
-Installed new Yellow number plate (front & rear)backgrounds
-Oil Change
-Removed Rekluse EXP & all steel plates and clutch fibers for inspection – All Good!!!
-Removed front brake banjo bolt with brake sensor & installed plain banjo bolt
-Flushed, replaced & bled new front brake fluid
-Removed headlight switch as it was not working and hard wired the headlight
-Removed all the misc wire and connectors that are not being used!!!
-Fixed left side lower radiator hose by splicing in a ¾” brass junction
-Removed & Installed new Anti-Freeze
-Removed water pump cover & inspected for any impellor rubbing – just needed a little drimmel work to the CheckPoint AL impellor
-Installed TrailTech temp sensor on upper right side radiator hose for my TrailTech Vector
-Slight adjustments to Lectron Carb & throttle cable
-Switched G2 throttle cam from a #200 to #300 – I find the #300 to work best for me & tight single track trails I ride
-Added new rubber connectors (from McMaster –Carr) to connect lower radiator shrouds – Thanks to GMP & Dessertgasser for this idea!!
-Safety wired upper rad shrouds to lower rad shrouds (I really hate the 2 part shrouds) – Dear GasGas QC Department PLEASE DO SOMETHING DIFFERENT HERE AND MAKE THIS 1 PIECE.!!!!
-Added Velcro to various spots to knock down some of the vibe noises.!!
-Sealed & caulked that little door under the rear fender
-New Rear Tire – Michelin S12 XC
