What did you do to your Gas Gas today?

Today I de-pinned my low beam of my headlight and lubed the throttle cable. Weather is horrific down here (south gippsland)

Drained the fuel tank, not sure when we'll be riding again here in Vic :(

Next outing will be using castor oil though, for the time being I'll run some through my lawn equipment :D

Just fitted this AS3 front sprocket guard to replace the stock one that stores the mud.
I'm finding the AS3 parts to be very well made and have had no issues as yet.

gearing change

ever since I got the 18 EC 300 I felt it had a little "dead" spot right off throttle. figured it was jetting or PV but after getting those where I liked it was still there. changed to 13/51 and bingo! liking the power much more now :D.

Since we have been in lockdown here in Victoria Australia and after I gave the whole bike a good teardown re-grease, I've been busy doing things to the bike that I've been putting off for some time.

I've taken 100mm off the silencer, done a key delete and installed one of those push button switches you see on the pumpkins, and made a new improved linkage guard for the bash guard.

Now only if the restrictions could be eased so I can ride it!

👍 it looks good!

Okey Dokey,

Next weekend -here we go.

I found a two-stroke CDI for $13. I am going to give that a run.

Thanks again for pointing that out. You can see the advance curve on the face plate.

Boy, idle hands with the social distancing - gotta' have something to do!

Reading your posts reminds me how much I've been impressed over the years with the level of expertise that many GasGas enthusiasts operate at. Many of my best tech ideas and innovations came from customers. The first such submission was in late 1999, from a customer who was an electrical engineer who sent me the schematic drawing (hand drawing) of a homemade rectifier he had made from a few dollars (less than $5) of Radio Shack parts. He had a new 2000 XC250 and wanted to add a cheap aftermarket horn. He
needed to change the voltage from AC to DC for the horn, without buying the $42 GasGas horn rectifier.

It was the first of many useful bits that customers who were smarter than me shared over the years. The tech articles on web site's home page still feature some of them.

Kudos.

I sold my smartcarb and bought a STIC metering Block which arrived today.
Let’s see how it works... :-)

Installed a Strike seats gripper seat cover. Good quality and far grippier than the stocker. I'm quietly confident we will be able to ride down here next weekend.

I'm sure Dictator Dan will fuck that for you.....and me :(

How'd you do the silencer? More Info please

Open up the silencer as if you were changing the packing. Remove the tip from the canister by drilling out the 4 rivets that hold it on. Mark and cut 100mm off the outer canister at the tip end then mark and cut 100mm off the inner core from the tip end. Then measure up and mark where the 4 holes should go, drill the holes and reassemble the new short silencer.

Is that what your after?

Gez,

Where did you get those swingarm protectors? I'm interested in using them, although I've heard that they can hold mud & water in there and cause corrosion/discoloring. Do you find that to be a problem?

Jeff

Not to my bike, but I just sent an email to Vic Roads asking for a refund or an extension of my registration because I couldn't ride my dirtbikes for the last 2 months due to Covid-19........How's that gonna work out for me :D

I used the hyde ones for about 8 years and they are thicker but worse fitting. I just put a good layer of duct tape on the swingarm and when i sold the bike i ripped it off and used spirits to get the glue off and it was all still fine, there were a few spots where the sand had rubbed through the tape, but caught it in time

Haha worth a try, that'd be like a $14 refund?

In other news, I'm heading out on Saturday
