Who is the OEM mfg for GasGas Pistons? Plus S3 Cylinder upgrade?

Who makes the GasGas pistons? What is the highest quality piston for 2011 EC 300? I want to use the best performing and most reliable piston possible. Also, I have read Jakobi's thread about the S3 heads being bling, but is the S3 cylinder a worthwhile upgrade?

Vertex makes the OE piston, and you'll find their stamp on the S3-branded pistons as well.

We have had reasonable success with the Wossner piston assemblies as an alternative to the Vertex.

S3 stamped Vertex pistons are cast.
The Wossners are forged.
Performance wise the Vertex might have the edge as its a bit lighter. Reliability maybe the Wossner, but if you're staying on top of maintenance I don't think you'd have an issue with either.

The S3 Racing cylinder was hand ported so all the intakes were clear of any casting flaws. Some ports had been raised with the intent of making more top end power over bottom/mid. Pretty standard mods. Quite a few OEM cylinders are also stamped on the underside 'S3'.

I was surprised the underside of my cylinder is stamped with the S3. But sounds like that is standard on some.

Thanks for the response. The original piston has been fine, I like the idea of the forged Wossner piston. So, if I understand correctly, S3 cylinder is the same as the stock GasGas cylinder with some mild porting which decreases your bottom end and increases your topend a bit?

Yep! Its nothing too crazy. IE less base gaskets and running the piston up a bit higher will move the spread back down and still give a good top end too.
